Man united's decline
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:51:08 AM »
With their best defender (Vidic) now out for the season , surely this is the year were they finish outside the top 4?
Would it be that much of a surprise to see
Mancity
Arsenal
Spurs
Chelsea
Filling the cl spaces , Fergie weather you love him or hate him you must respect his record but even he seems out of sorts .
Is it a bad thing ??
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

It wont happen but it would be brilliant if they finished outside the top 4 and failed to qualify for the Champions League, Fergie gets the sack, the glazers send the club bankrupt and they fade into oblivion.

Will not happen this year I don't think. They are breading young talent to be a bigger force for the future so make the most of their failures at the moment.

I wonder how many of their fans across the world would stay loyal..

Bit harsh on Fergie to wish the sack on him. He is a world class manager, who always prasies WBA when we play them.

On the whole i would also love Man U Outside Top 4!!

I won't find it more interesting if City win the league by fifteen points.

Hes too powerful.  He manipulates referees and the media.  In the media only a select few are allowed into press conferences and are not allowed to ask certain questions.  We've seen examples of him falling out with BBC, Sky etc,. only because they dared to ask him a sensitive question.

I'm not knocking his achievements, he will no doubt go down as one of the best ever but the way hes gone about it doesnt show me any class.

Anyone writing SAF or Man Utd off is a bit daft, He has rebuilt so many times when people think United are about to crumble. If they dont win the league this year. Then i 100% expect that the title will be theirs again the year after.

Any ManUtd fan asking for him to be sacked, isnt really a ManUtd fan IMO

with vidic out it could be a blessing in disguise it lets Jones go back to his preferred position (think hes going to be some player)saying that Many of them players would not have got in a man Utd team of days gone

I agree with you. He can be annoying when talking about his own club and about referees but outside of that he comes across as a top bloke. Look at his tribute to Bobby Robson its probably on youtube somewhere and he comes across really well. Always very complimentary towards us as well.

Wenger, Mourinho, Dalglish all do the same with the media and referees, its not just Fergie, he's just a bit wiser than the others.

The BBC falling out was down a Panorama programme investigating dodgy agents and his son was mentoned in the programme, I think a couple of other managers also refused to deal with the Beeb for a while afterwards.

I'll be straight up and say I don't like United. They're a disease in many ways. I hate how their success has more or less ruined footballs younger generation of supporters with the majority opting to support Man United over their local teams. Something which I cannot stand. Vidic out for the season and no doubt as the season progresses Rio Ferdinand will end up with a few more injuries meaning they'll be relying on the youth to carry them through.

I would love it if City win the league, although they'd of spent a lot of money to get it, I'm praying that someone puts an end to the Man United dominance, sooner rather than later.

As much as I'd like to see it, I can't see them falling out of the top 4 this football year.  If Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool weren't faltering also, it very well may have been possible, but those clubs have their own issues right now too.

United did very well to win the league last year, but I thought they were a relatively weak side and an awful lot of things went their way.  The signs that they were partly on the slide were starting to show last season in my opinion.

I am in a minority but i dont mind United! I think after seeing them a few times lately they are not the force they were but i would never right them off and still wouldnt surprise me to see them win the league.

They have had spells like this before where they wasnt great but the squad changed and before long they were back to normal and winning most things. There have been a few false dawns, Blackburn, Leeds, Chelsea and now Man City all threw money at it, had different degrees of success but United were the one team who remained up there whatever and i think will continue to do so.

As for Fergie, again i like him, he is a winner, he defends his players to the media and sometimes blames other things but behing closed doors if they are letting him down you can guarentee he rips them to pieces and lets them know its not good enough, they have higher standards than most and he makes sure they are met. You look at what other managers say about him, doesnt he contact every new manager / appointment to wish them luck and offer advice? As somebody says he spoke glowingly of Sir Bobby and he seems keen to promote other managers.

As for the fans, they can be annoying but the ones who go away games are for me the best and noisiest in the league, originaly to with their songs, give me United over Liverpool anyday.

Bob Bradley (previous USA manager) mentioned that SAF had been very friendly and helpful to him, which he greatly appreciated. Considering the vast gulf in status between managing MUFC and managing the US national team, I found that quite commendable.

But it must be relatively easy to be magnanimous when you're king of the world; on the few occasions Man United have suffered setbacks, SAF has shown a far less attractive side.

They do but those 3 combined are still no match for the master.  He's like the football equivalent of Kim Jong Il.  ;D

I actually like Man Utd, Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest manager of my generation, he has too much power, but he's done  alot for British Football , and other managers do get power too, the BBC panorama show explains his hatred for the BBC. Then again, don't we all hate the BBC ? Look at thier old boys crew on MOTD.

I think this is a transition season for them, where Fergie is bringing through the likes of Welbeck, Jones, Smalling.

It's clear that their central midfield options are dire. Carrick doesnt seem on it, Gibson is pathetic, Anderson is hit and miss, Fletcher does a decent job. They clearly miss a world class playmaker (goetze/sneijder) and a class holding midfielder (De Rossi)

Even with an average team, SAF can keep them in the top 4

I don't know how people like Man U this is a team who always get the decisions and half the time they are wrong. Much rather spurs or man c win the league than united.
