He is able to be more than just a fullback in support when we go forward, not just for the throw ins either.  It's his place to lose if you ask me.

Are you thinking of Frabotta? Devante Cole is a centre forward.

The PL2  highlights on the O/S are very limited, basically just the goals but his first is a lovely finish with his right foot from the left edge of the box into the top corner and his second is more of a tap in but he does take up a good position for it to be a tap in.
He does a nice lay off for Whitwell to score his second too.
Frabotta's freekick is decent (low and precise) and there is one from Styles which clips the top of the bar.

Cole assisted both of Whitwell's goals. Thought both goals he scored himself were quality. First one was eye catching while he showed quick feet, awareness and composure for the second.

From Brum Mail, 15th Oct 2024, on why Cole doesn't play, the answer is that Cole knows his role basically.

the last manager said he won't bring an a young attacker in as they may get frustrated at not playing, whereas Cole is more mature and won't complain as much. Also says he doesn't have much championship experience, mainly L1 experience.

Just a waste of a wage really.

Is he really that bad that we have to use either Dobbin or Wallace upfront?

Did fairly well given the context. Begs the question why wingers have been favoured over him up until now?

Proved he is a better option than Dobbin or Wallace up top. Not as good as Maja but can easily be second fiddle until dike fit. Shame we didn't see the 2 in action for more than 5 minutes

Exactly why has he not been used off the bench on a regular basis given his performance tonight ?

Did very well given the circumstances.

Could have scored if he had connected better with that overhead kick attempt.

Should always have been on the bench imo.

I thought he did okay - a good attempt with the overhead kick.

It's difficult to judge from a 15-minute cameo but I thought his pressing could have been better. Perhaps a snapshot (a very quick judgement admittedly) into why Corberan hasn't picked him.

I thought the last manager might not have been using Cole because of climate change, but having seen him play for the first time against Burnley I don't think that was the reason.

Early days for him, but he doesn't seem to be championship standard.

How can you say that when he comes on for 5 minutes and doesn’t have 1 single ball to him

It was always a very odd signing. Admittedly he had a good season in the third tier last year but his age and previous Championship scoring record (1 goal in 23 appearances) suggested he was not the player for us. Having said that I don’t believe any striker would make much of a difference to us right now. We are rarely creating more than one serious chance per game. No striker can be expected to score regularly with that type of service. To be fair on Maja it shows that he has been exceptional in front of goal away from home.

the last manager signed him because, in the last manager own words, he wouldn't complain about not playing a lot in comparison to a younger player. Odd.

I’m offering my services in January. Happy to sit it out if that helps the team. 😀

Not sure why he didn't come on today as the Diangana substitution as good as had us playing with 10

I think Corberan didn't want to risk an injury with Maja and was also conscious that we weren't keeping the ball well. Maja was playing deeper than Grant which I'm not sure Cole has in his locker. That said, if it was control he was after, Swift may have been a better option.

He doesn't appear to me to be very quick at closing down / pressing.  Probably better brought on of we were were chasing the game.

According to Transfermarkt Cole has made 7 appearances for a total of 65 minutes in the league so just over 9 minutes per average appearance, hard for anyone to get to grips with a game within that time frame. His longest was 27 minutes at Luton, then 14 at QPR, other than that 3, 8, 1, 3, 9.

In the EFL Cup - 72 minutes in 1 game 1 goal.

In Premier League 2 - 168 minutes, 2 games 2 goals (both v Stoke)
