Everyone has been saying we should recruit young players from abroad as in the days of Mulumbu and Koren.
As soon as we do that, if they aren't world beaters straight away, they are referred to a "duds", after less than a full game playing time. What do people expect? This is the pond we are fishing in, and players costing no fee or next to no fee will need time to settle i.
Many multi million pound players have failed spectacularly
We have quite a list of failures in the multi-million  pound bracket and quite a few players who cost next to nothing who went on to have good careers here.

I thought he was one of the very few bright things about last night; good at winning and keeping the ball, looked to get us going forward, plenty of energy. Definitely one of the few 7/10 performances along with Heard and Whitwell.

I thought he did ok for the first 70 minutes
Good control and touch and a nice through ball for the opener
He had to cover a lot of ground defensively has heard and Whitwell looked to be more pro active
I think given time he will be a good acquisition, how good remains to be seen
I have more confidence on him being ok than franbotta who looked distinctly below average but I won’t write him off yet

From that cameo he isn’t far away from getting into starting 11 imo.

Did alright again, no Yokuslu but for a free signing and relatively low wages, doesn't look out of place in the champo.

Amazing change of perspective given you were pretty much calling him a dud 10 days ago.

He'll struggle to get into a starting position now with the big Serb signed and Mowatt and Molumby looking decent. Good to have competition for positions though :)

I know very early days, but I have only seen the little cameo against Leeds live, so what are the thoughts of those who have seen more of him please?

I thought he was bright when he came on today. Won a foul in a good position when we were slowing the game down and didn't look out of place. It's nice to have a level of competition in the middle now and i think when he is fully comfortable in the league i wouldn't be surprised to see him in the starting 11.

Looked good yesterday, wanted to take the ball up through the middle of the pitch - which we rarely do.

Funny how Mowatt and Molumby have performed better when competition for places occurs, similar to Darnell last season
the road to the summit has dips, keep the faith when navigating those dips !!

We just need to find some competition for Swift then.

Anyway, Diakite looks like he's going to be a good addition to the team. He was one of the very few bright points of the Fleetwood game and has looked decent in his brief cameos.

Shout out for this guy today as I thought he was excellent when he came on. Made tackles, broke up their play and used the ball very well every time he had it.

Very encouraging looks like a young mulumbu a bit raw and awkward but definitely something there would like to see more of him

Thought he shored things up very nicely  8) .
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Agree with this - nice to see him involved as he has become the forgotten man in recent weeks.

One of the things that impressed was he found himself with space and in an attacking position with the crowd yelling "shoot" with about 5 mins left - he must have been desperate to have a go but checked back and sensibly kepy possession.

Glad to hear he did well. He looked more than capable enough for the champo in the 3 games i saw him play in pre-season.

Agreed - not sure the crowd yelling shoot was particularly helpful either given the position of the game. Sensible football from the young man.

I'd agree with the above tbh. I was a bit concerned when he took Racic off, thought it might have been a bit too early, but he did well even though our impetus was gone after the subs.

Probably the same people who moan at us keeping the ball at the back, without realising how calculated it is and how well it works for us.

Yes, those moaning about defence should look at goals against column. Back to Diakite, I like the look of him so far and lots more to come

Got my first proper look at him yesterday and I was very impressed with his tenacity and positional sense.

Has a Carlton Palmer physique and needs longer shorts, but joking aside I hope he keeps on improving and adapting to the English game and most importantly that he stays injury free.
