Team for me should be as close to our strongest 11 as possible possibly with Ajayi and dike in to get minutes.:

                     Palmer
Furlong Ajayi Oshea Townsend
             Molumby okay
        Wallace swift Phillips
                     Dike

I would do the same as this only change I’d make is TGH for Molumby in the middle.

Think Taylor deserves a chances in his position.

Disagree that TGH, as much as I like him, deserves a chance over Molumby who was superb in the last league match.

Based on CC comments I think Grant will start on the left of attack.

If we go first XI here it will be three games in seven days for them.

I would expect a similar team to the away game, with a couple of tweaks. The guys who played on Saturday now have much less excuse of lack of game time/coherence.

I'd like to see TGH get a start in the middle, and Cleary up top as don't want Dike risked. So would go:

            Palmer
Ingram  Kelly  Pieters  Reach/Ashworth
     TGH        Livermore
Diangana  Rogic        Grant
              Cleary

That on the basis ideally Ajayi comes into the first XI for the Burnley game.

First choice back 4 minus Ajayi coming in he needs minutes no button. Now with BTA out i go:

                     Palmer
Furlong ajayi oshea Townsend
                Okay molumby
         Wallace Rogic Diangana
                       Dike

For me it has to be a side with the basis of our regular team with a few of the players he uses from the bench regularly given a start, not wholesale changes like we saw. Hard to pick prior to the Luton game but I'd go with something like this:

Palmer

Furlong
O'Shea
Ajayi
Townsend

Gardner-Hickman
Molumby

Diangana
Rogic
Grant

Cleary

I'd be dropping Button and Kelly but I get the feeling CC will go with the same side that started the original game.

I'd go:
                                                             Palmer
                       Furlong            O'Shea                    Ajayi             Reach

                                                 TGH             Livermore

                   Phillips                                  Rogic                                     Grant

                                                            Dike

Subs: Button, Pieters, Townsend, Molumby, Swift, Diangana, Cleary

It's not going to be a full strength side given we have Luton and Burnley either side of the fixture.

Luton and Burnley are really important games.  Getting a point or two off Burnley could be significant if the teams around us don't manage that.

I'm pinning my hopes on Corberan, having sussed the Chesterfield tactics, and will know how to drill his second string.  (One thing I would never hope for under Bruce) We couldn't get the ball off them in the first half so we don't want to be overrun in midfield again.

>If he plays Ajayi at Luton then he will play Pieters against Chesterfield and vice versa.  Palmer in goal will steady the back line.
> Ashworth will lose any nerves and play better after his baptism of fire
> TGH has to learn to understudy Furlong as there is only Kelly remaining at RB.  Molumby can help out
> Their CF is looking to cripple one or both of our centre-backs so I wouldn't want to risk O'Shea

Not sure about Cleary he looks unfit or muscle-bound.  He certainly won't press like BTA

                                                           Palmer

        Gardner-Hickman            Kelly                       Pieters                 Ashworth

                                                            Livermore

Molumby               Rogic                   Reach (where the hell's Bryan?)

                                              Dike/Cleary                   Grant/Phillips

Wouldn’t you want to rest Jayson for the league games between the cup? Big ask asking him to start all 3.

Chesterfield MP not happy that BBC and ITV have ignored the replay for TV coverage.

https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2023/01/11/labour-mp-to-write-to-bbc-and-itv-as-west-brom-v-chesterfield-fa-cup-replay-snubbed/

A Labour MP is set to write to both the BBC and ITV after neither channel opted to broadcast the replay of West Brom against Chesterfield in the FA Cup.

The Baggies and Spireites played out a pulsating 3-3 draw at the home of the non-league side on Saturday (7 January) and will now contest a replay for a spot in the fourth round.

Both the BBC and ITV will show one replay over the course of the next week but they have chosen to select Wolves against Liverpool and Leeds against Cardiff despite both games being on TV in the first place.

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins is far from pleased with the decision and took to his personal Twitter account to make it clear he would be asking for answers from the broadcasters.

“Following the announcement by the BBC & ITV that they’ll broadcast the same games they already showed in the 3rd round and not the replay of the thrilling Chesterfield and West Brom game, I will write to them to express the disappointment being aired by so many,” he said.

It has been a perennial problem for the FA Cup for decades now but the magic of the underdog story disappears when the terrestrial channels get the chance to show any of the big Premier League sides.

This was acutely evident as Manchester United against Everton and Manchester City against Chelsea were chosen to be shown live in the UK over Chesterfield against West Brom or any other game where an upset was possible.

Any team outside of the top flight becomes irrelevant to the BBC and ITV as soon as the perceived big six comes into play and it constantly hurts the smaller clubs.

United against Everton wouldn’t even be picked for broadcast by Sky if it were a Premier League game and the Red Devils don’t need the money from one night on the box.

Chesterfield and West Brom do right now and they have been shunned into the shadows just to enhance the egos of the big boys.
