West Brom or the World Cup?
« on: November 13, 2022, 05:23:59 PM »
Which would you rather be watching? I have no interest in this World Cup so the next few weeks are going to be boring.

Up till a couple of weeks ago, it would’ve been a close decision. Now it’s Baggies all day long.

Normally it's fairly even, although this tournamentis a bit of a turn off (while the events of last summer on Euro finals day were also a bit depressing).

I think yesterday was a thoroughly enjoyable watch
We did play well against Burnley and Watford under Bruce but yesterday we had structure,we looked sharp and fit
It’s amazing what you can do when you actually train and coach professional footballers

Baggies all day long and it isn't even close. In previous World Cups I would have barely missed a game and unless my mood changes in the next few days I doubt I'll make much of an effort to watch it.

I'm generally more interested in club football than national teams, and that applies not just to matches involving the Albion.  I will however take a passing interest in the WC, especially if Holland are doing well.

I love a World Cup. I don’t agree with where it’s being held and it’s frustrating that it’s interrupting the season but I’ll still be an enthusiastic observer. Selfishly I do think it not falling in our summer will take away from it though.

Enjoy the World Cup once it's here but it's always Albion first ten fold for me !!!!

Would always want to see Albion win a major trophy over an England WC win.... given up on seeing either though !

I've come to really dislike the upper levels of football, the money, the cheating, Sky TV and all its vile implications so I'm not really fussed if the pampered pets have a ****y world cup.
Asante did more to improve my feelings for football in 85 minutes than the England team could ever do.

Always Albion for me.

Southgate cowardice in the WC semi and Euro final has blotted his copybook for me.

On top of that, I am boycotting this world Cup as it shouldn't be happening where and when it is.

I asked a similar question on here during the last Euro's and the majority went for club over country. I asked the same question at the pub with a load of mates and interestingly they pretty much all said England. I don't have anywhere near the same attachment or passion for England as I do for the Albion. A WC win or Albion to get promoted. No contest for me.

First time ever I've not been interested in the World Cup. It's on principle, I think the decision to give it to Qatar was corrupt (my opinion anyway) and it's ludicrous to be played in December.

However, I am now delighted it is interrupting the season as CC has a whole month to keep working on what he has already achieved, hopefully with additions coming back from injury.

Really not bothered what we do in Qatar, we shouldn't be there.

My position entirely.
I won't be watching on principle. Its made easier that England are criminally boring to watch in spite of some seriously talented attacking players. Normally I'd watch most games and enjoy the spectacle. Not this year.

That said, its an excellent chance for the team to regroup and get CC's philosophy under the their belts, so a silver lining to the dark cloud of the WC.

That pretty well sums up how I feel unless Albion are involved I don't follow top-flight football and the reason I don't know half the England Squad.
Southgate did bottle our chances of winning anything and that along with his attitude means I have little interest in the World Cup.

Albion over England never mind the Qatar World Cup. Don't get me wrong I'd be delighted if we could win the World Cup or the Euros in my lifetime but I've invested far more of my life and emotions with Albion than I ever would for the national team. COYB  8) .

On subject and maybe off subject but absolute respect for Bruno Fernandez and having the nuts to say that it’s wrong and shouldn’t be taking place in Qatar .

Albion every time ......but especially this time around. I'm boycotting it along with many fans of German clubs.....take a look at the magnificent protest banners at recent games involving Dortmund and Berlin....impressive.

Up until recently both had terrible managers and, as such, I had little interest in either. Now the one has, what appears to be, a good manager and as such they are the only one I particularly care about.

Nice to see we pretty much seem to have the same attitude on this.

England don't come close to the Albion for me, though they were a bit like a security blanket for me in our tough times.
