The offside rule
« on: May 03, 2022, 09:42:53 PM »
Question
Having just watched the scousers unfortunately get back in front in their game against villareal with a goal that I think should be offside..
How does the rule work to include arms/hands/fingers?
What I mean is, if any contact with arms/hands/fingers is deemed a foul for handball, how can those body parts represent a player (defender) that then plays an attacker onside ?
Shouldn’t it be any body part other than them?
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

Nope
Their first one, but in general surely the rulE can (should) only apply to a body part that you can play theball with?

Offside rule is always changing depending on the day of the week it seems. Gives the referees an out.

Probably changed the rule just before the goal and then changed it back after.

The defenders foot is keeping him onside, if you're on about Fabinho's goal.

You are correct that the rule only refers to parts of the body you can play the ball with - arms etc shouldn't count
