New strip
« on: April 30, 2022, 03:24:09 PM »
So we are at that time of year again have there been any leaks of images?
Perhaps with the current apathy around the club they delay any release date until some more positive news regarding squad restructuring

I have asked Chris Lepkowski about next seasons kit as he was the first person to break the news on the current kits.

Unfortunately he says he hasn't heard anything.

Fairly sure we heard from Gourlay via Masi or Madeley that the next kit will be a return to a more traditional striped kit.

I'd heard from someone ITK that the home kit will be all yellow. With the away kit in bottle-it green.

Proper Navy and White stripes this time. Look at teams like Allianz Lima for true colours.

I really, really disliked this season’s kit. I disliked it even more after the way we played in it.

Albion are blue and white stripes. Not pinstripes or penguin suits.

I realise stripes can be tricky with sponsors and design etc but the club’s identity is linked with its kit. I hate to see it abused in the way I feel it was this season.

I don’t particularly feel the affinity and love many seem to have for the yellow and green, even though I was there back in the 70s. One of the occasions I remember best when we wore it was when we blew the FA Cup Semi-Final against Ipswich - one of the most important games of that period - which definitely wasn’t nostalgic. We even wore green and yellow on one of the darkest days in our entire history when we were relegated to the Third Division for the first and so far only time at Bristol Rovers. And we certainly weren’t wearing those colours when we demolished Man Utd at Old Trafford either.

But whatever - our home colours and design must be blue and white stripes for me.

Blue and white striped shirts, white shorts and either white or hooped socks. That's Albion.

Anything else. NO!

Didn't Gourlay say it would be more of a traditional strip next season? Sure it came up at an Albion Assembly or something

I was 13 in 93 when we were yellow and green at Wembley that's why I'm nostalgic for it I think

I used to speak to a bloke in my old job who was quite high up at a professional rugby club. Their policy on shirts was that they worked on a three year cycle. One year they’d have a traditional shirt, one year an “abstract” (his words) shirt and one year a retro shirt. I didn’t think it was a bad way of doing things and probably appeals to plenty at different points.

After an abstract season, I hope we return to a traditional shirt.

I agree that we have had a few seasons of experiments and it would be great to get back to a classic Navy and White strip. However in fairness we do try and stir things up a bit, whereas teams like Stoke have had the exact same pattern for years and it is almost impossible to tell one seasons strip from another. I would love an all Navy away strip with either a white sash or thin white pinstripes, but the yellow  and green is also cool.

The classiest away strip I have seen Albion in was an all white strip (think Real Madrid) with two, inch-wide navy-blue stripes off-centre and opposite the badge.  Subtle rather than the clown and bar code garish abominations of the last few seasons.
Just an opinion, obvs.

Aye. Conor Hourihane and Ciaran Clark look resplendent in the new kit and Arouna Dindane thinks it's very slimming.

I thought the kit was the best thing about the season.
I understand people like to see the stripes, but I thought it was an attractive kit, and something different to the usual

Just think after a few seasons of trying to change the profile we should go back to navy and white stripes in some sort of format. Thinner stripes, diagonal stripes, classical stripes. I always go back to Allianz Lima, who every season have classic navy and white stripes, but are different. I go back their because i used to work in Lima and used to eat opposite the ground  their kits are always classic .

Any news yet?
When do we usually hear about a new kit prior to new season beginning?

I can't think of a season where we haven't had blue and white stripes in some sort of format. We had one thick blue stripe and two white stripes last season, we've had a bar code effect mixture of thin and thick blue/white stripes, we tried pin stripes a good few years ago. All stripes in different formats.

Personally I favour 3 broad blue stripes but it can get a little dull season after season so I don't really mind how the makers interpret "stripes".

Alianza Lima's home shirt in 2016 was similar to ours last season. They do have some nice looking shirts though.

The club are sending out Emails stating the club shop opening hours this coming week. I'd be surprised if the new kits aren't unveiled this week, home one probably tomorrow.
