Personally, I'm long sick of hearing some Albion fans whinging this season and foaming at the mouth at any opportunity. The fact that a sizeable number are having another moan today is entirely predictable, they live for it. The idea that sacking Val in February would somehow unite the club was a fantasy.

We all should give a new manager a chance afterall they start with a clean slate here but it seems some are dead set against Bruce and that is quite sad.

Even more ridiculous when you consider that all he is being asked to do is to manage us until the summer to try to get us promoted. Taking over in February, post window closing for less than half a season.

Yes, but let's overlook that! Seriously, no way we can off load our older players on big contracts unless we pay them off. Same scenario with Phillips & Livermore for example as Gibbs.

Think you're being a tad unfair there Alex, today's events haven't happened overnight Ron Gourlay has had plenty of time to look at his options.

As a quick fix, SB probably fits the bill fine, but like you I would rather see a longer term approach.

Problem is, if SB works out he will be the long term approach

Of all the problems we have, taking long term approach is not one of them.

Don't think so, even Pulis had to go to China to discuss potential signings, & local journos have said that he authorises spending.
Think he had his fingers burned with the Williams/ Goodman fiasco.

Also, having now appointing himself chairman, he will almost certainly become more involved & take a salary.

Will be interesting to see going forward. I think we have suffered from him, what feels like, not watching his asset like an hawk.

My instincts too. I have, perhaps an unfair idea, that Gourlay will be a guy who deals with his contacts and it'll be jobs for the boys and agent led recruitment.

There is always a very small chance that Gourlay may know what he is doing and do a good job, but a much more likely chance that he will make a complete mess of it and leave our club closer to league one than the premiership. Exciting times.

You'd hope they did some sort of due diligence, but everything points to SB being the only interviewee. Or otehrwise they managed to hide it very well from the journos.
