Has anyone heard from Ronnie yet?
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.
Oh, and always remember to defecate on those Vile chaps in claret and spew.

you would think that by law of averages the club would get something right in all this time.
Well we've got a squad of average players, if that helps. Average League 1 level, I'll grant you, but...

I know they did mate, but his motive was to show he still exists, and if he has a modicum of success , B71 it is

We'll probably offer them millions in compo. Or, given it's Albion, two buttons that fell off Ron's shirt and a half sucked Sherbert Lemon (either one of which would be more than it's worth IMO).

Meanwhile Ron is thumbing his contacts book from when he was at Old Trafford just in case

Under B Bruce lovely man but yeah came back to soon but wait a minute Nicky Butt well there's a name not a first team manager but a name.
Under R Robson they've already had him about 10 years ago mind so they might have forgotten
Under I Ince (sigh) Reading beat us there
Under K Keane no way too scary
Under N we have Neville I wonder if Gary has what his names number yes that's it Phil what he's up to these days?
Under S Scholes maybe that experience he had at Oldham would stand him in good stead
Under H Hughes So hacked of  with me that I didn't call him when I got this gig he has flounced off to Bradford (do they have football team?)
Under G Giggs you know when the court case is over perhaps but not now

Not many options I know let's stick with Steve.

I have seen nothing in Ron that makes me think he is the man to turn around this sinking ship - he seems a playbook from the 90s. I cannot see anything at his previous clubs that suggests he's going to modernise this football club.

His appointment of Bruce without any other due diligence to other candidates says everything I need to know about his mindset.

All of my positive thoughts on Ron and Bruce have evaporated in the last few weeks. I did not believe we could be that unlucky to get another Pardew but here we are.

Following on from Stan's tongue in cheek post, I had a quick Google to see what appointments Gourlay made when he was CEO at Reading.

It turns out it was only the one and it wasn't somebody from his ex-Untied days. Instead it was Paul Clement from his old Chelsea days. A bit of a pattern emerging.

All I know is he is as invisible as our CEO and the rest of them. Too busy tyring to flog nostalgic shirts instead of coming out on the site and saying 'we are going to fix this. Here's the plan, kids'.

I loathe our current regime. They have totally wrecked a one proud club. Go way in short, sharp, jerky movements.

I made a point pretty much along those lines in a topic about the release of the retro range. I'm glad somebody else thinks this!

I don't know about you guys but I would quite happily have him at the club (not necessarily as a manager). Born and proven winner who will tell the players how it is.

And then our gutless frauds would get him the sack too..

My somewhat tongue in cheek post was making the point that Gourlay might know lots of ex Man United players and Chelsea ones for that matter but none of them are good coaches.

Roy Keane might be the worst of them he hates being known as a pundit but the sofa is the best place for the aging hard man act it goes down well with the TV audience and bombs completely in most dressing rooms.

Just knowing people in the game does not mean jack and when your CEO appoints Steve Bruce from a short list of one that rather proves the point.

The next appointment assuming he doesn't keep Bruce will be someone Gourlay knows. You have to worry about who Ron Gouraly knows.

In the modern world we inhabit, no one is accountable and no one accepts any responsibility for anything. Our players and Management reflect this attitude perfectly. Happy to drift in a cloud of mediocrity, hiding on the pitch and off the pitch, as long as the cheque rolls in at the end of the month, who gives a flying f+ck.

That is because our owner allows this. Not all businesses are run this way, but then again not all businesses are run by someone who doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

In an interview yesterday Masi has reported that Gourlay has said the club are:

1) Looking at improving, rebooting and extending their scouting network. Sick of rubbish transfers.
2) Appointing more football minded people to the board and creating a 'head of football' role which is a tweak on director of football.

Sounds promising. Small steps in the right direction.

We certainly need to strengthen the scouting network – there’s no doubt about it,” the chief executive continued.

“We’ve already discussed that with Ian (Head of Recruitment Ian Pearce) and we are already looking at the whole structure, having more international reach.

“We’ve been home-based if I’m honest, so we’re looking at that and trying to address that very quickly.

“Scouting is an area where we need to invest in. We need to strengthen the recruitment process.”

Music to my ears.  The domestic market is terrible.  Far too expensive for a club of our limited resources. We also need to move away from signing others cast offs.

Nobody can tell me for the monies we’ve paid for Diangana and Grant that we could have sourced better abroad for half the price.
