As someone who has had ruptured tendons surgically repaired. They're never the same again, and definitely not stronger.

"Without surgery, there is increased chance that the tendon heals in a stretched out fashion and leg strength therefore compromised. High-performance athletes with a torn Achilles tendon are almost always treated with surgery to provide a stronger tendon that is less likely to re-rupture."

Remember professional athletes and football clubs of this level have access to medical care and rehab way above most

Daryl Dike set for first-team training later this week after "green light" from u21s work. Striker will still turn out for youth side - who play this Sat and then Fri week - before deemed ready for senior return. #wba

That's good news. Let's just pray that this time he doesn't suffer another setback. Just as important will be how the long lay offs have affected his mentality and how long it will take him to be match ready (not much before Xmas is my quess tbh)

Yes mate and if he can come back anywhere near what i think he would be capable of pre-injury, we got a top attack with Maja. All we can do is hope and pray!

Injured again.

Carlos seems unfazed

“In training this week, Daryl Dike was feeling a small pain in his hamstring. Let’s say it’s a small setback, but this is part of the process. We know that when he came back into training with the group, in this last step of his rehabilitation is when the muscle problems could appear.

“It’s not a surprise for us, but it’s also not a positive for him because he was in the last period after having a difficult time and now he has another difficult one.

“It’s a small setback that we need to manage well, but, in my opinion, it’s a normal part of this process. When you try to make your body ready again after a long time, you are going to have some muscle difficulty. The medical staff and the coaching staff understand that this is part of the process.

“It hasn’t affected my plans with Daryl or our upcoming games, but it’s important to manage this carefully because we don’t want something small to turn into something big."

Think we had a few false starts like this last time, ended up coming back a few weeks later than anticipated overall.

So would you sell him for scrap if the right offer came in during January? Don't worry..... I know the answer  ;D  ;) .

I hope to be proved wrong but got slated when I said this last time but I fear that he’s never going to be fit enough to play sport professionally. His body just doesn’t seem to be able to take the pressure.

I agree.  This is an insurance job.  What sort of wages are we paying him too cycle between training field and physio table?

Doubt we will get a tat mans offer to be fair.

I like the lad from the footage i've seen him in off field and he's had some terrible luck but if he comes back from this and breaks down again immediately i hope he would do the right thing for himself and the club, admit defeat and retire and give the insurance company a bell.

Any sign of him returning soon, lots of games in a month and could do with another striker

Saw this thread pop up and was convinced he'd had a double sprain of his football boots. Phew. Sorry, I can't remember what the last update was either  ;D .

Dike has been doing some training I understand, but it will take some time to get to match fitness and then where might he play in the system?  If Maja are out then I can see him coming in, but it has been hard to watch sometimes.  He has shown real elements of good play, clearly wants to be here and then....bump.  We have to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst IMV.
