I can't believe i'm watching the same player that was here a few seasons ago. Probably the only bright spark of today, the finish for his goal was brilliant.

One of the most important players in the squad as it stands.

Great performance and goal yesterday.

Words I never thought I would say, but seem to repeat very often.

Our problem now is our creative mf are dire.

Chuffed he got the goal to increase his numbers. Really deserves it given the shifts he's been putting in. Nice one Karlan, more of the same please  8) .

One leopard that seems to have changed his spots.
Great start and great attitude from someone that we all wrote off.
Dare I suggest crediting Carlos for recognising the change and giving him the match time?

He's gone from carrying a few pounds to looking the fittest in the squad. On Saturday he was the only one prepared to attack space with directness. Great finish for the goal.

Of course you can suggest the above, and I think you’re right!

I remember not so long ago he couldn't buy a compliment on here, but then we fixed him for you like Kipre before him. Glad to see him do well and is very popular down here.

Going to Cardiff and seeing what life could be like if you don't sort your life out has certainly worked for Kipre and Grant, and they have come back and proven what they can do.

Grant is the only forward who is helping Maja, and his workrate is absolutely brilliant at the moment, add to that another assist yesterday.

A completely different player to even when he scored 18 goals for us.

How right you are. I was not impressed by him the year he got 18 goals whereas he now looks a player. Our much maligned manager deserves some credit for this, as does the player himself.

I think a lot of his credit is because he tracks back consistently and is clearly putting in a lot of effort. However, I'm more concerned with what he adds as a forward, and that's where I find him limited. He has a poor positional sense in that he never seems to find pockets of space and seems to run into cul-de-sacs with the ball. Top strikers have an instinct around the box where to stand and make runs, which is why they score frequently. He's  also one paced.  He tries to take on backs for speed but he misses the balance and composure to go different ways like Johnston and Fellows can. If Johnston could find his form from last season, I think it would be a no brainer who should be starting on the left wing.

That's a big IF; seen no evidence of that from Johnston.  Grant is assigned to  the wing to receive passes there (and punts form the goalie -unfortunately that's Palmer)  so he can't be dodging about all over the field finding pockets.  Also from current evidence Grant is more able to cross with his left on the by-line.

Its not about the long punts from Palmer. Its about making and timing runs forward onto through passes from midfield, as we are generally playing out from the back. I acknowledge part of the problem is our midfield.  They are slow at working the ball forward. But Grant has to find positions where he can run forward into space, or link up better with Maja and others. He just runs into blind alleys and rarely gets in behind defenders.

I do agree that the guy is still no world beater. However, the improvement in his overall game and work rate are very notable in my view.

He has improved from when he was last here, but that's improving from a very low base.

However, there are only 4 teams in the division who have scored less goals than us, and you have to ask why is that? I think you can ask questions about all of our forwards, but  of those, Grant has had a lot of playing time, so in my view, he is a significant part of the problem.

Worked his rocks off again and put in a couple of dangerous crosses in, but no one took advantage again.

Man of the match for me closely followed by the back 4.

Agreed Grant has really put some shifts in this season. For me it’s his willingness to track back that has been his strength.

Worked his cojones off last night. Interestingly he played much nearer and at times ahead of Maja last night as well as trying to offer width in his more normal position.  Came off to a good ovation and looked as though he was tripping over his tongue !!

I’d say Maja could play the 10 with Grant in front and maybe they can develop and Grant/Robinson style understanding?

Grant won’t score enough goals as a single striker up front . Look what happened in his first season playing that role … 1 league goal for us .
