When its all over
« on: March 22, 2020, 11:44:53 AM »
So....let’s hope we get everything sorted, the virus gets defeated and we all play on ....but for whatever reason it floats after June and all the players that are loaned or at end of contract have gone

What does the starting line up look like ?
(Yes I’m bored)

                   Johnstone
Furlong. Hegazi.  Bartley.   Gibbs

             Semi.     Livermore
Phillips.       Sawyers.       Grosiki

                 H r k
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

Looks decent mate. With a 6 point gap, and other clubs having problems with expiring loans, or players not wanting to extend contracts, more than a fighting chance.

Its effectively a 7 point gap over Fulham, with us having a +13 goal difference advantage over them

Anyone else hoping the shutdown continues until 2022 when Sam Johnstone is out of contract?

How are we going to go about keeping the likes of Robinson and Diangana if the season doesn't start again before June? Surely the leagues would just have to extend the deadline to the conclusion of the league as opposed to a set date? Perreira can be triggered anytime so I'm not so concerned about that one. Would be a big blow to lose Robinson and Diangana with 9 games to go.

With such a tight squeeze on wages I think we'll have no problem keeping Robinson. However Diangana may be wanted back at West Ham to help in their relegation scrap.

Don't see how they can just have him back when we paid for a season long loan and there are 9 games remaining. I'm sure some legislation is going to have to be made up because alot of clubs will have different looking squads if loan players are to just leave

Totally agree with this. There will be rule changes and  I'm confident we will have the same players available as we had before the enforced closure.

I would think the club holding the players registration is the one in a position of strength, hopefully sense will prevail however.

I can imagine:
1)  with reduced revenues and reduced ability to pay high wages that foreign players will desert the EFL and go home or off to the Middle East and (ironically) China.

2) It's possible that without crowds, the epl product will lose value for foreign owners. The EPL will reduce to 6-8 competitive teams. Games not involving both teams from this set will be walkovers.  TV will thus exclusively show the  same fixtures and pay the premium clubs more - further exacerbating the inequality.

3) Owners might insist on the formation of a European super league.  English players will make up 20% of the big 6's club squads and 15% of matchday squads.

4) Second teams of the chosen few will play in the EPL

5) Maybe this will give home grown players a chance to get established and the home game to regenerate with fan ownership increasing. (Had to finish on an optimistic note.)

I'd go with that. I'd just written out an argument as to why Semi was best suited at CB and how Krovinovic was suited to the middle but then realised he'd be gone too  ???

I think the break will have done some of our injured players good though, the likes of Phillips and Gibbs who were constantly injured but are very good when fit.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that we've already reached agreement with both West Ham and Sheffield United for Diangana and Johnson to stay until fixtures are completed should the season restart. It was also reported we're in dialogue re Krov'.

If anybody is happy to pay these players their wages or even a proportion of them that will be fine by their parent clubs we will be pushing on an open door

Do you mean Robinson not Johnson, or is it so long since we've been to the shrine that I have forgotten the chap?  :D

Do you have a link for that mate? All the local papers said he's staying till season complete.

Yes mate, Robinson. Been flicking in and out of threads, read some absolute tosh and subconsciously thought I'd add some of my own  ;D .
