No surprise that Klopp's found a new job, but pity he's had to choose such a plasticky, non-traditional outfit as Red Bull.  The complete opposite of his previous clubs Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool with their rich histories.  Expect though he has a few clauses in his contract allowing him to step back into a manager's job, if the right one comes along.

sorry to add any anxiety about your betting but it's only Alex 1's opinion that he has a clause in the contract (I'd be surprised if he doesn't though). The actual piece doesn't mention any.

I got that from German media. They were suggesting that the clause would allow him to take the German national job if it came came up, though the consensus is that Nagelsmann is doing a good job there.

I see Arteta was booked for touching the ball whilst it was in play yesterday. I said at the time, Corberan will be the only manager sent off for doing that.

Russell Martin wasn't on hand to flick his hair around, flare his nostrils and have a big hissy fit about things.

It will be interesting to see how Amorim will do at United after thrashing  city in the champions league and leaving Sporting after winning all 11 games in the league so far.

Amazing track record, but the last one had that too.

The first half between Poland and Scotland has to be one of the most entertaining games I have watched in years. Tempo is fantastic.
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

First time I've seen an opposition manager intervene to stop an opposing player being sent off. Happened in Stuttgart v Ajax friendly where Davy Klassen picked up a red card for a tackle, and Stuttgart manager pleaded with the ref not to send him off as it would upset the trail nature of the game if the opposition went down to 10 men. The ref backed down.

Rene Hake, one of the recent candidates for the last manager's job, about to be appointed manager of Eredivisie club Heerenveen. Would replace Robin van Persie, who looks like set to return  to his former club, Feijenoord.

Ajax fans in uproar about their manager Farioli, putting 8 first team regulars on the bench for their Europa League match with Frankfurt. Apparently to rest them for a league match at the weekend. Unsurprisingly the mix of youth and reserve players got hammered 4-1. Many of those who travelled to Frankfurt demanding travel expenses.

I notice soon to be 35 Jordan Henderson missed that fixture due to a yellow card suspension. Good. He needs all the rest he can get at his age ahead of the upcoming international break. I wonder whether that was a strategic yellow he took the game before.

Didn't look like it. He was having a hissy-fit with a ref. who had handed out a yellow card to a colleague making a throwaway gesture in the process. Later admitted he'd been stupid. He wouldn't have known then he'd been called up for the England squad.

I think you'll find squad announcements are only a surprise for the likes of us.

The players know well ahead of any announcement.

It was reported that around 50 players had been spoken, and in some cases (Ben White) to bring them into contention.

Reads to me very much like an experienced player who should know better doing worse than he should've for reasons best known to himself. I really don't think he was being stupid at all.

He played 90 minutes today, though not one of his better games. Definitely at fault for one of the goals conceded.
