Anyone got an idea why a deal like this takes long? The clubs battling over money?

I read somewhere it was agreed financially now and it was being held up by his passport situation .. ?

Wrong Pereira entirely...

indeed the Portuguese right-back joins the Robins on a season-long loan with the option to purchase from Benfica.

Pause meltdown.

Sorry it would be stupid not too think there were more than one Pereira, bit like only one Jones being a footballer in Wales :D

Duncan Castles reporting that Pereira is due to fly to England to complete a loan move to us.

I won't be confident until everything is confirmed as this has been such a protracted negotiation, and goalposts can move at the last minute, but this would be a major coup.

If this goes through we will have plenty of wingers but we need a prolific scorer to go with them.

Most of castles recent tweets relate to Portuguese players, so you’d suspect that’s where he has connections.

I nearly started crying that window when the sky prat said lukuka was coming back and me running around singing it's alright baby's coming back and then we signed anichebe instead.

Typical Albion from the highest high to the lowest low within the space of a couple of hours.

Glad that we seem to have got this one over the line. He seems to have had a decent season last year in the bundesliga so a decent chance of translating that to the championship.

Yes and I was singing “He’s coming home, he’s coming home, Lukaku’s coming home” How wrong and disappointed was I  :-\

If we get this guy and the lad from West Ham we will be so dangerous on the wings. Really exciting especially if we can add someone to stick their crosses into the net.

By the sounds of it he's extremely talented and was considered one of Sporting Lisbon's best prospects but fell out with the coach and ended up getting loaned out. From what I can gather he was expected to start the season for them last year after a very bright pre-season but was on the bench the first game, made a tweet complaining about it, and was banished on loan.

Seems like he's got attitude issues but also a lot of talent. Hopefully Bilic is the man to rein him in and get the best out of him.

Matheus Pereira is flying to England in order to complete a loan move to West Brom.

Sporting had been after a promotion-dependant obligatory buy clause - quoted at £9M by Record (🇵🇹) last week. Not known whether this still stands.

It's normally 12pm before match day so I'd say so. Also Twitter is saying he was granted a Portuguese passport today so no work permit required I guess??
