Comedians
« on: May 30, 2019, 07:45:21 PM »
How come when we have people like Lenny Henry and Frank Skinner in our ranks, the attempts on here at humour can be so bad.
There are some (Jacko,SmethDan) who can walk off the pitch with their heads held high , safe in the knowledge they can induce laughter, but my God if I had a pound for every post that contained "tchyoi" along with "they day know wot he wuz doing because he day know himself" I'd be rich
Cmon baggies , step it up .

Semi-serious answer: text is notoriously hard to convey tone, and sarcasm even more. Both of these are big factors in comedy, along with body language, which again isn't conveyed via text.

That’s where emojis sometimes come in useful. However, threads do tend to be a tad serious on here, and on most social media. Trying to break things up with a funny remark can be near on impossible. I blame Brexit.  ;D

Tend to have a rule of thumb.
"If I need an emoji to emphasise an irony or witticism, then it's probably neither ironical or witty.
If it was easy, it wouldn't be Albion

The less he spoke the more he heard, why aren't we like that wise old bird?

I think it might be some haven't got a sense of humour or can't understand tongue in cheek. ;)

It wouldn't be the first time, but I seem to be missing the point of the thread. It's a football forum, a place to discuss WBA. Not sure why having comedians as fans would make fans funny. We have Clapton and Ronnie Wood as supporters but we're not all musicians.

It would be remiss of me, if I didn't include Albionic to that list. He has a dry sense of humor that may not always be instantly obvious to some readers.

Right, league football's finished , let's get some training in-

"A Wolves fan, an Albion fan and a Stourbridge fan walk into a pub....." Over to you...make us laugh.

The Stourbridge fan says our owner wants to buy everyone a drink, the Wolves fan says our owner wants to buy the pub and brewery - the Albion fan says our owner would like to buy us a packet of nuts or crisps to share but they want to consider it with due diligence first, get quotes from various pubs and bars around Europe but they can't decide what flavour to go for and which is the cheapest option.

Unfortunately it was run by Jenkins and Dowling who had sacked the barman in March and they still hadn't hired a replacement.

The pub was shut and due for demolishing.

Albion fan  “next season I think we’ll finish mid-table, maybe scrape the play-offs, how’d do you think you’ll do?”

Stourbridge fan “Definitely top 3 for us, and we’ll get into the FA cup proper. Hopefully to the third round and a tie against one of your lot”

Wolves fan “I think we’ll finish top 4 and qualify for champions league , final of both FA cup and League cup , winning both, and probably the Europa league too”

Albion fan “don’t you think that’s being a bit optimistic?”

Wolves fan “well you bloody started it!”

I’ve heard the long time rumour that Eric Clapton is aa Albion fan (never seen or heard any confirmation of that) but Ronnie Wood is a new one on me! As for Lennie Henry, Trade Descriptions ought to become involved if he is supposed to have anything to do with comedy, embarrassingly bad.

On the cover of (I think) the Backless Lp Clapton is wearing a West Brom scarf. The Ronnie Wood rumour has been around for years too.

I recently read Eric Clapton’s autobiography and the is not an inkling of any support for WBA. I’d love it if he bought the chinaman out, though........!

Absolutely, definitely won’t happen!!!!!!
