As most are saying - just can't see how the team that were out there today can get a couple of points against much better teams when we have struggled so badly against teams of a similar quality to ourselves. Newcastle away is the only fixture between us an eight defeats in eight games and that will be a tricky game. Still any relegation threatened side who did lose the last eight games of the season deserves to go down.

I don't think you are far off the mark, we have always struggled against teams around us and below because the players have no clue on how to control a game. We are better without the ball and counter attacking as we stay in a decent formation without the ball.
Even Cillit would have banged that one in..

You mean counter attacking with our speedy wingers, overlapping full backs, and clinical finishers?

Why not... If fit then McManaman RW, Poc LB with Brunt LW & Mozza/Sess AM behind Saido.

Drop Gmac and move Dawson to CB and put Gamboa/Wisdom at RB.

We can't afford to start with Brown or VA as the lack of effort chasing down defenders or movement in the box when attacking was embarrassing yesterday. In the 2nd half they gave Leicester's defenders the easiest half of football they'll have this season.

I know its all hindsight & I'm sure its happened at other clubs but if Foster hadnt flapped at Vile Park, Gmac hadnt dillied & dallied yesterday both in the final minutes when we had at least a point in the bag we'd have an extra 2 points as well as depriving our opponents of another 2 each, much of the pressure would have been off to a certain extent! No points and we might stay up on goal difference. I did not feel as negative as this under Irvine. Good job it's hard to find a bus on sundays

I think we'll need at least 3 more points to be safe.

We have to target Palace away, Newcastle away and Liverpool at home I would've thought.

He must change the team now as it's not working
Dawson CH in place of Gmac, Wisdom or Gamboa RB, Poco LB, Brunt LM, McMan or Mozza RM , Yacob and Fletcher CM,  Sess No.10 behind Betahino. Ideye and Vic as 'impact' subs (imagination needed if we're to believe they can make an impact!).

At least this team might be able to play through teams better, offering more movement and the ability to keep the ball better.  Without progressive full backs and s more balanced midfield we will not trouble teams enough to pick up points.

Our goal diff will be as bad when palace hammer us next week.

Maybe we have just been given a help towards safety with Chelsea grabbing a lucky winner

QPR will struggle to catch us now, they are seven points behind with 15 available including trips to Man City and Liverpool.

The slightly worrying thing is that Man City have proved themselves to be vulnerable to any team (except us, of course) this season.

They have to play West Ham (h)Newcastle (h)and Leicester (a) -  potential 9 points that could put them two ahead of us! Where are we going to get 2 more points ?

It would appear so as we look incapable of picking up any more points ourselves.

Don't know which is worse but this is a very, very disappointing position we have put ourselves in.

It could be a very long five weeks or so ahead, unless TP can get us back to basics and competing like we did when he first arrived, but this squad has proved time and time again over the last couple of years that they haven't got the stomach for a scrap.

I think much of the problem lies with the fact that half the team know they will not be needed/used come next season. When this is in their mindset it's hard for them to compete and show the desire/effort which is needed to win a Premier League game.

Of course they are professionals and should give 110% every game with the wages they are on, but it don't work like that anymore sadly.

QPR have three home games against Stoke, West Ham and Leicester, they are all winnable and would put them on 34 points if it happened, so we still need those magic 3 points.

Haven't got Stoke, it's Newcastle. Leicester is away also, so one of them will drop points. They are all winnable but given  they have won five all season, it's still a tall order

I think we're relying on three sides to be worse than ourselves again.

We've had a great chance in the last two weeks to confirm our Premier League status for next year and we have fluffed it against two sides who are beneath us in the table.

I think we will survive but I would like another point or two before I start any celebration.

Just frustrating that we should have had a draw yesterday as well as at the Villa. Those two points would have been massive.

Ok I've done run some numbers, and if we can get two draws, I think we're safe, but who knows what will happen.

There's a Google Sheets document in this link

It's going to be tight if we don't pick up any more points

Not having a go at you mate. We should have won yesterday if the club means anything to that useless shower of c*nts. If being only the second team to play in a retro strip, for a club legend. In front his family and Team mates from 68, for, a charity lauch in his honour. Fails to motivate these asshats then nothing will. Can't see us getting another result :(

Current form table top five happens to be five teams we still need to play, Arsenal, ManU, Palace, Chelsea and Liverpool. Newcastle at 19th whilst we're 14th on current form (past six games). Interestingly, four teams at the bottom of the form table are currently below us in the league so we may need to rely on them not picking up (Hull, Burnley, Sunderland and QPR).

Check out the link if you want to be even more scared of our remaining games!!
