Cifuentes had had a bust up/break down of relationship at QPR with chief executive Christian Nourry and is ready to quit - The Sun

Would be very happy with this.

I don’t blame them to be honest. I can only speak for Twitter but when they put happy birthday posts on there they were met with a barrage of abuse.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Tony Mowbray sacked
« on: April 22, 2025, 08:12:41 PM »
Seems to have just dropped a grenade behind him knowing he was finished.

Everything that has come out since the sacking proves exactly what I thought the case was, the head coach wasn’t aligned to the strategy of the football club. Very odd situation to have gotten ourselves into considering Bilkul have been up-front with the fans about the direction we’re going in. Makes it sound like they’ve not explained this to Mowbray and he’s not done his own due diligence.

As for the Dike comments, I would have a shred of sympathy if he hadn’t been tying to crowbar Jog Swift into the side at every opportunity.

My thoughts exactly. Some of the comments i'm reading are sounding really petty, it's not how i want to remember someone who brought me so much joy in his first stint.

I'm personally a big fan of teams who play 3 at the back and it's something we haven't done a lot of in recent times.

                                         Griffiths

                New Cb               Taylor                Heggem

New RWB             Diakite                Price                      Styles

                    Bany                                  Johnston

                                        Maja

Something like that on the understanding we probably lose Tom Fellows this summer and obviously i imagine we would bring a lot in. I don't think Furlong and Styles are good enough against the top teams to play as your standard full backs so playing in a system like this could suit their strengths. The 3 upfront could alternate between playing wide or inside and when we're defending we should have a nice bank of 5.

Musilic makes Valerian Ismael football look like prime Pep, no thanks!

Heitinga would be an interesting one, would also be happy with Cooper/Selles although i think that could be unrealistic. I'm excited by the prospect of someone coming in from abroad who we have never heard of though, worked out well for Sunderland this year.

Would like to see us change it about now the season is over but whilst it's still mathematically possible i don't think he will.

This will be my little lads first game so really looking forward to it, if i have to be disappointed then so does he  ;D

Feel really sorry for him that he has to play in this team, wouldn’t begrudge him playing premier league football next year because I think he is more than good enough.

Relegation form. We have no plan and his subs make Bruce look tactically astute. We cannot trust him to take us into next season and i hope the board do the right thing and part ways as soon as possible.

How much of this is on Mowbray we nearly went 1-0 up and how much of it is down to our awful midfield which has been depleted again due to injury and suspension and poor options and how much Is down to our right hand side of defence having an absolute shocker. Everyone was initially happy with the team selection, Mowbray, Carlos even Pep can't do anything about players having stinkers, Styles needs to be hooked at ht he is walking a tightrope and keeps making silly tackles, he is another one having a poor game which is unusual for him. Heggem seems to be the only one in the defence actually trying to defend

He has set the team up and they look absolutely clueless. We can all see we're getting overrun in midfield so why isn't he doing something about it? I can't even work out what our game plan is here its tragic.

Absolutely no patterns of play based on the first 30 minutes, so predictably rubbish.

Thank you for sharing Gaz. He clearly has a long term plan for us and it's refreshing to finally have some direction.

No what happened??!  ;D

They all went up to the top which i presume was to collect their runners up medals and he got the whole squad round and started giving them a speech, i had second hand embarrassment for him. I don't know if you use twitter but if you search 'Tom Wagner' it will come up pretty quickly.

Anyone see the Birmingham owner at the end? Absolute tragic. Reminded me of Phil Brown on the pitch at the Etihad for cringe.

You keep spouting this nonsense about Armstrong being no good. It was last season he had 34 goal contributions in this league,  not years ago.
If Mowbray had adapted our style to suit the player, as simple as either playing with a target man as a focal point and having Armstrong playing off him or playing the ball into space/ channels for Armstrong to use his pace...instead of just relying on crosses into the box or using Armstrong as the target which everyone apart from Mowbray could see was doomed to fail.
It's not about asking 9 other players to change how they play (another trope of yours) it was as simple as instead of playing Armstrong as the target man and having Grant/ Diangana supporting he could have used Lankshear or Dike as the target man and Armstrong in the second striker role.
A good manager would have been able to find a way to play to Armstrong's strengths to get the best value out of a player we have paid a loan fee for. That's  what good managers do rather than waste the clubs money.
Yesterday the obvious solution that many of could see finally clicked in Tony's head and he played a big lad as the target.

Agree with every word of this. I don't think either Lankshear or Armstrong have been used correctly at all and thats on the manager.

From reports we beat a lot of teams to the signing of Lankshear and he has barely got on the pitch. If we carry on with things like this teams aren't going to want to loan us anyone and Lankshear certainly won't want to come back here next year.

If we are going to continue to play the way we are then Armstrong isn't going to fit in the team and we should persist with playing Lankshear/Dike. My personal thought is he should be tried upfront with one of them and see how we get on. If we have a big chance to win us a game, i want it falling to him and not one of Lankshear/Dike.

                   Griffiths
      Furlong.  Holgate.  Heggem

            Price. Diakite. Styles
Fellows.                              Johnstone
                Bany.
                        Lankshear

Would love to see us start with something like this but because it makes logical sense, the management are unlikely to do it. I'd also swap out Holgate for Bartley but there isn't alot between them if im honest. We have nothing to lose, lets try something new.

If you go from the Boro game, we have scored 16 goals in 14 games and that includes 5 against a heavily rotated Portsmouth team. Handbrake off football apparently.

It's always easy to blame the manager, but selling Palmer and Maja's injury, are the two main reasons we have ended up in this sitaution.

Madness to sell Plamer and Armstrong (the Maja replacement) has been dreadful.

He has to take blame as well. Those two things are true but you can't continue to pick ridiculous starting line ups and remain blameless. We have zero patterns of play, i can't even work out what our playing style is under him and his in game management is no good either.

This league is utterly dreadful this year and he has somehow managed to put us on course for a mid table finish.

Nestor needs to admit he made a mistake and call it quits the end of the season. He's not improved any of our players and he seems to have made others worse such as Fellows/Grant. That starting line up tonight was bordering on comical.
