BBC WM just paid tribute to him Richard Wilford Blues Reporter just spoke about him saying some nice things about him and saying how he will be missed. I expect Rob Gurney or Bomber might be asked about him later. But RIP to Nigel

Good luck!
went to the Mid season Friendly against Darlo's U18's who got to a Cup Final but my god half time was 0-0 but the U18's were playing really well it was a Cracking game. Darlo's first team opened the scoring to be 1-0 scoring a Pen and won 3-0. I stayed along with a fair few others to applaud the U18's off they played really well but knackered themselves out so Darlo's Main team took advantage. Next is a Friendly against Stafford then the last home game of the regular season against Dudley a sort of local rivalary as Dudley play local but Darlo don't see it as local. I also got served my first legal Pint I brought myself during the Friendly which tasted slightly better at the fact I brought it.

It has happened before can't remember who or when or what the result was but I was on here The game was on and I went to the toilet and we scored.

Absolutely I can understand why people don't want him being old and past it. But he has been brilliant for us so far he is on 2K a week I think. He might want more for next season. As I said he will probably want to enjoy his football and prove people he can still do something as he has nothing to play for he is probably thankful for us for giving him a chance so he can enjoy his Football. Worth signing him Dike Main striker obviously. But if it doesn't work out agree for both parties to end things.

I wasn't even born then but I remember that squad on Football Manager 2005 my Dad Remebers it. I had heard of McGinnes, Hoult, Big Dave, Super Bob, Gary Megson, Adam Chambers from Walsall and his brother. Neil Clement, Igor Balis from someone's username here and Scott Dobie mostly from FM or from old YouTube clips I watched Ie Battle of Brammal Lane or because they are cultural heros/legends much like Brunty, Mozza, Dorrans, Yacob, Moloumbu, Karen, Or big Jonas mostly because they much like us were Albion, they bled blue and white. This current lot need a kick up the backside and to watch that squad. Bruce will probably know it fairly well so he could tell them will they take it on board god knows.

Having Thought about our problems and the Squad Spine this is what I would
Manager Well Could we get anyone Better than Bruce Yes would we or if we did would they be backed no. Putting manager aside a bit here's the squad play 4-3-3 with Overlapping Full backs and pressing as is modern
Griffiths/Palmer Also Last 5 games play them maybe Rotate if one needs loaning to finish him do it. Button in that case as Backup
Left Back Hmm
Townsend as solid Backup or maybe stick with otherwise new LB
Centre Backs
O Shea Future Captain let's see that leadership as first choice CB
Ajayi/Kipre/Kid Ajayi looks OK at Times, Kipre has been OK if not a Kid or Matt Clarke that's the other CB Starting and his Sub and then Backup sorted. Take a pick out of those
Bartley Sell preferably to a Scrap man/Care Home or drop down the ranks use only in an emergency or as a Captain in a Game where you play kids against nobody and have bigger games coming up.
Right Back
TGH/O Shea as absolute emergency if not new Right Back It comes to something the one thing Furlong is good at Long Throw he now appears to not do anything and I've seen Non League players execute it better.
Midfeild arguably our weakest area.
Mowatt he can stay we need someone on Set Peices  or on the bench
TGH can play in Middle of The Park alas Coventry
Then Castro or Moloumby on the bench.
Left Wing
Diangana he was amazing there admittedly he had Pereira as the CAM to give him the balls and space but he was on fire there Grant as Back up maybe or Robbo
Dike with Caroll as Back up if not Tulloch
Right Wing
Grant/Robbo or Tulloch I think he can play there with Fellows or one of Grant/Robbo as Back up.
Players to sign
LB possibly
Backup Striker if not of the above fit requirements and Tulloch is utilised elsewhere.
Possible Youth Replacements
Possible Signings
If Matty Longstaff joins he can go in Midfeild
If not Chelsea will be having a fire sale I'd we can convince/loan then buy if he performs get one of there youngsters in. Ie Billy Gilmour. Maybe bring in a Liverpool Kid they signed that Kid from Fulham he might be loaned back out I'd utilse him. Then Man Utd have Dallo, Brandon Williams so on maybe loan them. Plus foregin kids or English kids playing abroad ie Felix Nmecha who plays Bundersliga for Wolfsburg possibly. Then maybe sign some young American/Canadian other prodigy from the RB clubs. If Steve Bruce is in charge Longstaff will be coming in if he can get Gayle I would Love him back, Then with Ron's links to Chelsea he maybe able to get us some of there kids. If Bruce isn't here then God knows who we get but hopefully either someone Simmilar to Steve Cooper ie Ex Youth coach so would play kids and develop them and knows all the Prem academy players, a manager with English and Foregn experience ie Daniel Farke or if we are ambitious Rafa Benitez which will never happen sadly.

Update Tommorrow going to start filming not allowed College Cameras over half term so using our little video camera at home going to film maybe puddles in the car, Floodlights turning on, people entering the ground. I'll ask if I'm allowed to film people getting served in the bar. Entry is free As it's a Friendly Darlaston Town Vs there U18's should be semi competitive I'd imagine like Darlo the U18's play good football. A few things that may interest you. Darlaston are aiming for 2nd in the West Midlands Regional Division 1 meaning they get home advantage in the Play offs at the moment looking like they will play Ashby Ivanhoe who ended Darlo's 15 or 17 match unbeaten streak on Saturday. Darlaston have one of there players in the England U18 Schoolboys squad he played against Republic of Ireland last Friday believe he came off the bench. Darlaston also will play at Damson Park home of Solihull Moors against Wednesfeild in a cup final not sure when. Next home game is against Dudley Town a so called local rivalary from Dudley as they play at Wednesfeild or Lane Head not sure not far from Darlaston's ground in Bentley which speaking to a few fans is a better facility than the Original Darlaston 's Home ground now pretty much derelict, and demolished of the City Ground famous for it's stopped Pitch and an ex Wolves hooligan's funeral procession attended by some of ours, Villa, Millwall for stuff he did after that started there not going into detail as 1 sort of Family my Stepmum has ties to him and 2 not really my bussiness to shout about it on a forum. But yeah filming should begin tomorrow depending on Weather

General Football & Sports / Re: Steve Bruce - Manager
« on: April 11, 2022, 02:12:14 PM »
Having read the last few pages and been thinking about something some guys told Me at the Non League Game I went to on Saturday. Before this manager came in The Players would meet the fans in the bar before the game then go in to the dressing room, change, discuss tactics and warm up. When the new guy came in. He stopped that Pre Match Interaction wanted them in to the Dressing Rooms, to Change, Tatics, Prepare, analyse the opposition basically no distractions. Being Non League of course the Players got interaction with the fans during the game ie hearing them saying Well Done, Come on, Slating them, Getting the ball back, Warming up hi fiving, hand shakes during the Warm up the Subs could talk. But he said after the game talk to the fans go to the bar. But basically he dispilned them. Now this Is Darlaston Town 1874 FC a team who play in the West Midlands Regional Division 1 currently 2nd to secure the Home Play offs spot for promotion into the West Midlands Premier Division now whatever else that manager did works as Darlo before Saturday had gone 15 or 17 unbeaten there Football was class. But now to West Brom, Do I like Steve Bruce hmm tough one I would like to think maybe he could prove his haters wrong and get us playing decent, but he is another Pulis and Co Style manager. But what can Albion do now we tried Val but it didn't work the Fans would have supported him had he not tried the same thing over again. Had he tried to fledge Youth, tried different ways and we still lost but he was trying all he could not saying he wasn't but Everything he tried wasn't working and he told the fans that this is why we would have supported him. Slav was sort of like that and he loved us and brought us my favourite player as he was and our best player better than Harvey Barnes in Pereira. But Steve Bruce is slightly outdated. Man City and Liverpool and in the Championship Nottingham Forest show us the modern way of possesion or constant high pressure, possesion but with skill, pace, quality touches I listened to that match and watched MOTD highlights and just wow. Val could have tried that would he have been backed no. Nottingham Forest when they cut Leicester open and matched Liverpool for 70 or 80 minutes did something similar. Now I think Forest have a few old players but they have Johnson and a few other exicting youth who Someone like Steve Cooper knows from being Liverpool's youth coach. But again back to us our problem is four things. Players there old, passed it, some like Grady have had that many different managers ignore him or play him out of position or not use him or he was injured and rather than slowly rehab him as he was when on form one of our more exciting players his confidence is shot. But many are old, slow, unable to play against this new way, no desire, put 11 Albion Fan's However old on that Pitch no we probably wouldn't win but we would play for our damn team. Some also know they won't be here next season Ie Clarke or SJ. The second issue is Manager we have an old tired manager in charge out of the washed up brigade of people like Bruce only 1 is in charge of a Premier League team and that is our former boss Roy who well will be going down with Watford, then below him is Steve Bruce and then the only other one is Mark Hughes at Bradford City. Nobody employs them anymore. Not even Celtic or Rangers. But that leaves us in another problem what young fresh manager would want to come here when and we have to admit this. You have a Villa side who have genuine decent players and lots of investment down the road, Wolves another decent squad a mix of Young and Old but quailty Old players ie Mouthino, A European chasing team, Lots of money, owners who will Back you, fans as I know loving life and a football Super agent. Then you have Walsall who might have a big rebuild and I don't financially how they are but you could build something there. Then the Midlands area as a whole, Leicester European pedigree, Good Owner Fan Relationship, good Owner Manager Relationship, backing, decent side, Premier League Champions, FA Cup Champions and a chance to maybe turn Leicester into a frequent Top Six side. Then Nottingham Forest who as mentioned have a Young squad, good backing from Fans, good structure in place and potential to return a sleeping Giant into the big time and Possibly mold a young thriving squad who could push for Europe. Then Derby who are in a mess but have a squad of grafters and fighters. So you ay going to come to West Brom a team who aren't settled, Owners who don't communicate even if you can rebuild the Fans Relationship ie Slav the board will betray you. The only manager who I can't think might come is Daniel Farke but even then he doesn't keep teams up but maybe with Albion and his knowledge of Foreign leagues he could. The 3rd issue as mentioned is virtually no backing now us Fans would back managers but the Players are the issue there likely going to make you look bad turning us against you and then them. As they will start of positive or do all you ask until like Slav Covid or something happens and then they take your trust and run with it. The owner has also made the place turgid so lots of empty seats, no atmosphere from years worth of Rot, if you do try a rebuild ie keeping our young or players who you may back ie say Diangana then you can't mold a squad meaning you are left where every other man before you was or is. The fourth issue which is something I think has happened since Ashworth left is Youth those who you do have to rebuild aren't experienced/good enough or Trusted. The only promise you have is TGH, O Shea and thats it. The ones you may want to use may need confidence or trying as is it to big a gamble to use In the league and then there is no guarantee they will stay.

To cut this post short we are in a mess No one really knows what is going to happen there are numerous issues that can't be glossed over other than us the Fans if like Slav or say someone like Steve Cooper had us playing decent football not expecting much but the way Albion used to be known and why we often had many admirers even our rivals though they never wanted to admit us knew us for The Albion way a thing that died out when we sacked Clarke which was Attacking Football being hard to beat at Home as we had characters like Yacob, Moloumby, Jonas, Brunty, Mozza, Foster and then when we had them attacking talent such as Almfartarno, Lukaku, Odemwingie, Berahino. Every big boy would dread playing us as we often picked up a point or all three either at home or away or If we lost we made it hard. One result I can think off When Chelsea either beat us or drew because they got a jammy pen at Stamford Bridge which Hazard scored. But that's all we want now yes defensive Counter attack ie Nuno would have us on side but we don't much just to be good to watch to watch if possible a young bunch of hungry players playing for the Shirt and battling. Then we will be onside and call out the board. But the other issues need a total restructure and not just quick fixes or even lots of money thrown at it. We need a structure a mentality football people and thinkers who can say hmm this squad rebuild right who do you want or where do we need improvements gaffer. Right make a shortlist of players you want I'll ask our Scouts to watch them and then get on the phone to recruitment to see how much we can get him for or if there is a clause or special way. If we can't get him tell me your backup or someone who you wouldn't mind who you have believe you can mold. We need lots of changes and quickly because if Albion ay careful this little bubble of everything being OK when it's not clearly will burst and things will get worse.

Keep Carroll,  keep TGH keep Bruce get rid of the rest simples.
Keep O'Shea and Dike to I also think play GD on the left keep the kids and maybe Button as a senior head don't play him though then the rest sort out.

When we signed Carroll I was like oh you really can't make this up then Bruce Joined and it was like Now you really are having a laugh. My dad doesn't really rate Carroll but if we can get 1 or 2 good years out of him being a hold up player as he actually puts in a shift and cares for basically no money and at times has saved us at the back. He may be a solid signing. Carroll must be seeing us and Bruce his old Gaffer as a chance for him maybe to not better his career but enjoy his football again, prove people wrong like Look I can score goals. I hope he does well and stays and good luck to him if he does decide to leave.
