Nixon just updated, now saying Sunderland have made their late move. They are offering loan to buy rather than straight 7m perm that Blades are. Sunderland however are promising 13m IF promoted.

So it's 7m now guaranteed or loan to Sunderland and end up with nothing or 13m if true!
That’s over 40m that Sunderland would have spent if they get up already

I think it will be Mowbray now as long as he gets the all clear.

I think he then almost gets a free hit for the rest of this season, but agree hit that starts in not too awful a position.
A couple of decent signings and some useful loanees and we could still have a decent chance of being in the mix ….
I know a few are saying there’s no money,I don’t believe that to be the case and looking back at last transfer window there weren’t many that expected as many in and certainly not the signing of Johnstone
Let’s wait and see .

Players mature at different speeds, cf Tony Book at Manchester City years ago.  Early on Brentford identified several players who were late developers at EPL youth squads and brought them on.

Taylor might not be the gem some thought, but to dismiss him because another player commanded what was then a high price at 20 may not be wholly sensible.
Exactly that ,Freddie Adu and Neil Mellor where young superstars in the making, but didn’t make it…whereas a couple of older guys named Ian Wright and Kevin Phillips started late and did ok ?

If a £15 million offer comes in from either Chelsea or Spurs then team Bikul will surely struggle not to accept it. It would give us immediate relief from our current financial issues compared to the outside chance of promotion.
Its a very tricky one to be honest, if the option comes about, glad it is not me having to decide.
If it came in from both them letter nodding war begin (along with the acquisition of a couple of loanees…
If it came from one and was upfront then we take it
I think he is great for us but everything has a price and I’d say 15 is not turn down able unless offered in 5 yearly payments

I really hope you are right (and I suspect that you are).

Moyes and Potter have got new roles anyway but yes I think they and Cooper were also out of our scope.
However
Cooper has a promotion on his CV,you would expect him to back himself to repeat?
If we were offering say 1.5m a year…and he wanted 3-4m a year, there is nothing stopping us putting him on the 1.5 with a 4m bonus for promotion this year dropping to 3m if next year …
There aren’t many gaps elsewhere for him to fill…in football being active /involved/relevant has a value ….im not saying id want him particularly…but it’s not that far fetched is it ??

It’s a pity we tool so long to pair him with molumby
Isn’t it just
Disgusting how we got players in and didn’t give them a chance .

If we could get a decent number 10 in then we are a match for anyone. We are lacking there big time.
Agree ,I’m a bit surprised that Mowatt hasn’t been tried there with Diakite/mulumby behind him.
It is difficult to have a striker and two wingers and afford a 10 ,unless we find one that can also tackle and drop …big ask

Yes, I'm as optimistic as I have been for a long while, a couple of decent signings and we may yet seriously challenge for promotion.
The club turnaround is quite remarkable really, facing bankruptcy and oblivion only two years ago to where we are now, secure and looking upwards,  :)
For the avoidance of doubt I AM NOT saying sell fellows
But if we did …Mikey Moore on loan from spurs would be fantastic .

I agree with your couple of good signings and we could be right in there .

The present management team have nothing to lose - and much to gain - by selecting a strong team this afternoon. They could play Wildsmith instead of Palmer and Caleb for Barclay.  Possibly Frabotta or Nelson in place of Styles, who is NOT a left back and we really need to know if anyone else except Heggan  is up to the job so that we can recruit if need be.  Put kids on the bench by all means but start with the rest of our usual strongest team.
I would definitely play Maja and Fellows - if they play well against Premier opposition their value will rise should we decide to cash in - if thye play badly potential suitors are more likely to be put off and we get to keep them for the season.
Can’t agree
Any clubs interested in a player would watch them over an extended time period and one or 2 bad games won’t impact the thought process that much.
The one thing everyone on this forum will agree on is that there is no way everyone will agree the best strategy for team selection in round 3 of the FA cup
Save players/don’t rest any/try and win/what’s the point the league matters more etc etc

I'm in agreement to be honest.
Much appreciated
It can be difficult speaking what you actually think when you just know someone will read it wrong …context vs content …a difficult battle in written form.

All the younger generation are at it to some extent as it’s now the norm for these generations to be on social media, I’m 44 my oldest daughter is 22 and she is all over it. They have grown up with this as normal everyday goings on.
Drives me mad 90% of the time.   :)
I don’t particularly like social media…but I think to an extent we all use it and we are guiktynif some hypocrisy when we moan about others being on it….then continually check various platforms for the new manager/signings etc
It is with us to stay …we put up with it

He has Brunt and team to smooth the transition plus you normally get a new coach bounce as players seek to impress the new boss.
Let’s not forget we also have some pretty decent players.

I agree with his reasons for not bringing on Tyler Young, they were 1-0 down until stoppage time, the kids hardly figured all season so not as though a regular even as a sub.
So do I
I think any other manager saying it wouldn’t get stick
Ferguson may have been helped ever so slightly in his career by Daddy though .

I don't like annoying footballers as much as possible, but I don't begrudge a player doing a silly dance while injured. Seriously, what is he meant to do? If he did it after our loss to the Wolves or Southampton last season then yeah, I would get it. But your reaction seems a bit over the top in my opinion.
Did you actually read my post ??
I’m not sure that there’s an actual “reaction”
What I said was pretty clear
Any sensible person wouldn’t wish him bad
Social media is exactly that …social…so open to all and all includes some idiots
Being a footballer that is out injured long term,it may be considered that dancing about on tik tok/face book/myspace insta might not be the best idea …

Not sure how you can find an issue with that but each to his own eh ?

Absolutely.  What he’s been through mentally with each injury cannot be under-estimated.  It boils my urine to see far too many of our fans criticising our seriously injured players.  It’s an occupational hazard and they don’t get injured on purpose!  In an era where mental health in the workplace is taken very seriously, those long dark months in recovery are a massive challenge.  For any injured player to be
aware of the ignorance said about them by our fans on social media must be a real kick in the balls.  Whatever happens next for Dike we need to get right behind him.
I don’t think are any rational fans that would wish him anything other than a change in fortunes and a return to fitness.
However it could also be said that once you open that door of social media it definitely swings both ways, and whilst not condoning any idiotic posts…someone getting paid more per month than most fans per year and choosing to do silly dances on line, whilst recovering from a second serious injury that has meant he has played very little during the whole time with us…could be considered ill judged ?

l think we were before Lai took over. I think in our current state we have potential but there are at least 25 teams in  the English football pyramid in better shape than us. Then take at least the top 2 or 3 clubs from most leagues in Europe, they  are bigger and financially better placed than us. Blues are financially better off and a more attractive prospects than us. I said before Corboran left that it would be a very difficult task to find a manager as good as him that wants to come to us. Again l think we are fishing in a very small limited ability pond of managers.
But then out of those 25 teams in better shape
How many have managers that are quite safe in position and how many would want the managers we would be looking at…for instance if we believe cooper is above us …pretty sure Man City,Arsenal,Liverpool,Chelsea, spurs would all say that they are above him ??

I did exactly the same .

IF Jose is taking over at Everton, as per rumour, that's everyone who potentially would consider Cooper for me, having rolled their dices.

Wonder if there is a limit to the amount of GL he can be on.
Rolled there “Dyches”

And if they do go up they are saddled with a 23million pound player who may be totally out of his depths in the Premier League !
Pray that his agent has also negotiated an increase per week of promoted 😃

You are surely a dingle on the wind up   ???

You know full well, that aside from the playing staff, most; if not all; other areas of the club staff will have been taking time of some sort off over the Christmas and new year period - wind your neck in mate.
If he is he should NUNO better than to come on here this week because it wouldn’t be GIBBS Right WOOD IT?

This is turning into a complete farce. A new gaffer now misses a precious 2 weeks before the next league game because the board are farting around. Not a good sign of things to come. Unless because results on the pitch have been decent and that's why they're taking their time fair enough if that isn't case then this smells of incompetency
😂😂 I’m not having the “farting around” until Dood confirms
