Guys why do you want Sheff Utd to lose? If they lose it'll be one promotion spot gone next season like Leeds.

Come on you Blades!

Sheffield is a much shorter drive than Sunderland.

We never lost to Sheff Utd, in fact i'd say we ever so slightly edged it over them over the 2 games.

What a garbage league this is.

I'd agree we edged both games, especially the one at theirs just after Christmas but we never had Mowbray in charge for either game , might have been a different outcome if we had.

Yes, the boys in suits make the rules and are responsible for VAR etc. It just seems that certain clubs always seem to profit from them, and you can definitely include Man Utd in that list.
The most pleasure I got from watching Fergie was when his face and nose matched the colour of his team`s shirts just after they'd just been knocked out of a European cup!
Or when his side couldn't win his last game in charge despite being 5-2 up with 10 minutes to go!

Can't remember where but I'm sure I've read somewhere that although he was raised in Wales this particular Welshman was born to English parents.......... in Shrewsbury....... in good old Ingerland  :o  ;) .

Makes the original poster's comments even stranger then!

Do you know anything about him? Genuine question because I don’t. Please enlighten me and others.
He knows he's Welsh but has so far not said why this needed mentioning.

Bristol had a lucky run at the right time whereas the teams around proper messed up. Same can be said of Cov who may have a chance as Sunderland have been dreadful as well. Shef should walk it.

Won first leg 3-0 at Ashton Gate last night.

Inevitable really, because its about the identity of the club. Players, managers come and go, but certain things stay  the same, which is what binds the fans to their club. The club name, the geographical location and the colours. Any administrators that mess around with them, do so at their peril.
A good start to the new season and any problems with a new shirt will be forgotten...just like last season.  :D

Well it's going to be blue and white stripes:  some fans will complain about the colour, the fit, the amount and width of the stripe, the collar/lack of collar,  the badge, the price etc.
And then rinse and repeat for the away/3rd shirt.
As it ever was.

Apologies for reopening Corberan debate it wasn't my intention the point I was trying to make was thinking that bringing in a Corberan clone if there is such a thing (Cifuentes might have had a similar approach) does not necessarily fix our issues.

The closed season gives us the opportunity of a reset and appointing a coach that aligns with that reset. However that is dependant on a fairly significant cull of the squad. Without it I don't think there is a coaching appointment that we could make that will move the dial. Maybe someone like Steve Cooper could work the alchemy required but those coaches are very few and far between and even they might flounder with our current crop of Senior Pro's.
Your point was clear enough  that's why your post was left on. It was the following posts that were off track and not for this thread.

I'm looking for next manager chat not discussions about previous managers. I'm sure there's another thread you could use....

There is and there was also a post put up about 2 weeks ago asking posters not to discuss the reign of Corberan in this thread.

Cheers for  Dike in achieving 60 minutes playing time which I confess I never thought possible given his injury record.  I suppose with 5 subs, 60 minutes is adequate for a forward.
So this raises a question of when to deploy him.
In terms of tactics, is it better to play him for the first 60 minutes or bring him on at half time when the opposition's legs are tiring?  Also, last stage, he would provide an outlet when defending a lead.

I'd expect him to be able to manage a full 90 mins by the time next season starts.

It has to be decided how we want to play before appointing the new head honcho. With hindsight going from Corberan's style to Mowbray was a massive leap of faith & one that' was unlikely  to have any chance of success at least in the short term.
The new man needs to appointed so he can appraise what he has and try and bring in what he needs/wants to implement the way he wants to set up. To do it the other way round is asking for trouble and likely to fail

This is the common sense approach and I seem to remember Nestor or Patel giving an interview where they indicated that this would be the case.

We will have to wait and see.

Not sure how he turned them round when they still got relegated .

Pretty sure that their form since he took over would have had them in 12th place.

Fingers crossed this true, because if do have to pay up the other 2 years of his contract we would have been foolish to have paid it all upon his departure rather than putting him on gardening leave hoping someone will give him a job.

He loves football so hopefully won't want sit around getting his salary from us, especially having missed a with his illness.
It's not true. Hull Daily Mail have a story on Selles and an "end of season review" taking place. They have specifically said that club hierarchy have said no to Mowbray IF they sack Selles.

Rumours that Selles is about to be gone from Hull too.

@DarrenOWitcoop

Ruben Selles is fighting to keep his job at Hull City despite keeping the club in the Championship
Hull City are conducting an " end of season review" according to Hull Daily Mail.
Another poster has mentioned this in the  New manager thread and also mentioned Mowbray as a potential replacement.HDM have said he won't be considered for the job IF they sack Selles.

We conceded 3 goals to a side who got relegated and looked pretty poor so have to take performance with pinch of salt.

Price showed he needs to have the team built around him. I like Diakite being in there in that yacob/yokusulu role. Fellows had a very good game and if we had left him on we would have got 6 or 7 rather than just 5. Styles showed he should be playing further forward- his defending was suspect but he looked dangerous great cross with 2 goals. Karlan Grant had a good game.

Dike was a handful he did some ok link play and was more of a threat than Armstrong had been up there in previous weeks. Hopefully he can stay fit for next year and be rotated with Maja.

Concerningly we looked suspect at the back besides Heggem. As I said styles further forward new left back. Another cb to go with Heggem- will it be Taylor?

Nice to see lots of young players or pre peak players in side: Griffiths heggem styles price diakite Fellows. Whitwell off the bench. Hopefully we can get rid of some of the overpaid poor contribuitors this summer and see more of the attacking flair from this game with a little more defensive stability
You can add Dike to the list of pre peak players as he's still only 24.

One thing that seems  clear from Mowbray's goodbye press conference is that Dike is never going fully to recover his fitness and it's about time he was persuaded to take the professional insurance due from his injuries.  I presume all players take out that insurance as do clubs?

Fans should stop hoping that he is going to return and make everything right.

If Mowbray didn't think he was training properly then he's just leeching off the club.
Oof ...I know hindsight is a wonderful thing.but.....
Some of us didn't buy the excuses that Mowbray was using.

We decided to leave at full time as I  thought it might be easier pushing a wheelchair along the Brummie onto Halfords with less people but it seems most people also left at full time!
Usually leave by the gate by the away end but it didn't look like Luton fans were in any hurry to leave either.

As posters have said earlier: play him in pre-season with Heggem then start him once the season has started.
He even scored for us this season.

Bristol got in with 38 is sickening. Today shouldn't distract from how awful this season has been. Sunderland lost again and Sheff Utd are beatable. Promotion was there this season...

Anyway happy for Dike and Style has been our best signing imo

Where has all these goal scoring from Fellows been all season? Acted like he bangs them in regularly today!

If only we sacked Mowbray a few games ago...
If they had got in with 38 it would be amazing!  :D

We need to be where we are to prompt as thorough a reset as we can achieve.

We're getting rid of some expensive and utter dross now, so a big double hurrah for that.

We've got some great young players remaining that we can hopefully build around and let's face it, Sheffield United are the third club going up. Saved us further heartache really.
Sheff utd will need to break their play off hoodoo to go up.
They do look the most likely but it's a proper lottery this season.
Just shows how detrimental all the draws have been. If we'd have defended better at Oxford and Swansea for just a couple of minutes more, we'd be in the play offs.

A much better performance than I expected. Sloppy for the goals we conceded but much more front foot football.
Thought Price was really impressive; not everything he tried worked out but he often won the ball back and at least kept on trying to do progressive things.
I said that it was a nonsense when Mowbray said that Dike couldn't play more than 30 minutes and today backed that up. I thought he played well and was so pleased that he scored.
A front line of Maja and Dike could be very impressive at this level.
Fellows  Price or Styles for MoM. Price just shades it for me.

Some posters seem to have forgotten that although we have nothing to play for; Luton are still involved in a relegation battle so if we fielded a number of kids and they won then the last relegated team could argue that we'd fielded a weak side.

any were decrying that the job was too small for him. Turned out it wasnt the size of job but the money on offer.

Lopetegui has made zillions from his sackings at RM, Wolves and West Ham. He doesnt really need the money. I think he would have come here, with the right pitch (WNA is a MUCH bigger job than Qatar, FFS).

Managing WNA might be a bigger job than managing the Qatari national team but managing WBA isn't (only to some WBA fans)   :D
Maybe in a purely footballing sense it's a better job but the whole lifestyle package isn't something we could compete with.

You've hinted that it's the money that matters to him so he wouldn't have been a realistic option for us as we wouldn't be able to pay anything like the salary he'd want.

You've said that he's made plenty of money from his previous jobs and that he doesn't need the money but you have also said he's still chasing the dollar...surely those are opposing views?

Still chasing the dollar, I see. To those who said he wouldn't interested, at least it shows he was a realistic candidate for the job.

To reiterate, I think the Baggies job is very tasty. If you look at the largest and best run clubs in the country:
(a) there aren't actually many jobs likely to be available in the near future
(b) those that are likely to become available are at unstable, basketcase clubs.

How does taking the Qatar job mean he was a realistic target for us?
Surely if he is "still chasing the dollar" then it means he wouldn't have been a realistic target?
