Basically LR and JO were pussyfooting around and nearly lost possession near the halfords/SME. It seemed that some took offence and groaned (maybe an individual or two went further than that.) Olsson, and LR had a bit of a moan back. No spitting at the crowd (maybe to the floor that someone has misinterpreted). SME responded by singing JOs name, which he appreciated by clapping back. That was it. No drama. I was stunned that someone phoned in and talked about it when I heard it on the radio.

Palace reminded me of us some years back to be honest: huffed and puffed but guaranteed relegation. We weren't brilliant but playing Morrison, Brunt, Long and having to take Jones off simultaneously sacrificing a natural outlet in Amalfitano in the process, the display was hardly going to be that of United away.
In the past, we've drawn those games and had to come away under a cloud of depression and frustration. Nowadays, we would do well to remind ourselves that, though not pretty, an under-strength Albion XI has met expectation and come away with 3 points against a team scrapping for their lives.

I would say so. We have enough space with abandoned pubs lying around. We have good transport links so people getting here isn't a worry. Staff increase would be agency anyway so no ties and only needed for bigger games.

Speculate to accumulate for me. If we can't take advantage of big games, we are going to financially fall behind teams like Brighton and Leicester, never mind premier league teams. 22,000 (27500 in big games) in 28,000 for games or 22,000 (33,000 in big games) in 36,000? No brainer.

Difficult to see past a defeat tonight: squad players thrown in against a top quality (albeit under strength) Citeh side. We concede 3 goals against a useless Wigan side from out wide and tonight we have less cover on the wings and Djeko to deal with...
With G-Mac as the only defender able to come off the pitch with his head held high on Saturday (Jones did well going forward but was repeatedly exposed defensively) , big games are needed from the rest tonight.
That said, no pressure on the result so maybe that will favour the likes of Dawson who have been thrown in at the deep end. Also a chance for Rosenberg to show that he has as much energy against a decent back line as he did on Saturday.

I have to say I agree. Alan Smith is one of the worst co-commentators out there. Clueless. He, along with Lawrenson and Thompson, don't bother watching anybody but their favourite teams and think it is just acceptable to turn up and guess how other teams usually play.
However, I must say I think Myhill always looked like he was ready to concede at any given moment. A great stand in but I'll breathe easier once Ben is back between the sticks.
My initial reaction for the freekick was to blame Myhill and, after seeing the deflection on the replays, I was slightly more forgiving but still thought that it was savable if he had moved his feet (always difficult, I know, if you've been wrong footed - perhaps we've been spoilt.)

Thought the substitutions came too early and were needless, Long and Odemwingie were playing well...certainly Lukaku and Rosenberg added nothing...in my opinion.
Agree completely with this. It could have cost us but we got away with that. Fortunately, QPR are so poor they couldn't capitalise on what was an atrocious start to the second half.

I thought most did their jobs well, particularly Olsson and Dorrans. G-Mac and Gera were sloppy at times. Thought after Long went off their defence grew in confidence and were happier to have the ball. As talented as Lukaku is, today was not great from his point of view.
As long as we push in and beat QPR, I'll be happy enough.

Whenever he plays he drifts inside causing no width, clots up the midfield meaning (yesterday) gera had to go wider so no runs off lukaku and no goals until someone can run off the striker (long). As well as this, it is no surprise that we looked shaky down the left when defending because of it constantly being 2-on-1 (same when Pete plays right.)

I would say that is different due to the fact that wearing a provocative outfit isn't breaking the law. Forcing entry to a venue without permission/going to a venue having already pre-meditated the idea of getting in without paying (theft) and missing school is.
Plus, no daughter of mine would wear such a provocative outfit, so as to avoid such philosophical questions.

We have a culture of blaming others so I'm not surprised by this.
Kid misses school. Teacher under pressure fails to get them through the work they've missed. Kid fails exams. Gets no job. Blames teachers for no education/Government for no jobs.
Selfish Liverpool fans turn up at a football match with no tickets. Police lose control. Police make rash decisions under pressure. Loyal Liverpool fans die. Selfish Liverpool fans look to blame the police.
Maybe the teacher should've sent work home for the kid to complete. Maybe the police shouldn't have opened the gates and dealt with the mass vandalism that would've happened if they'd locked people out.
Either way, there are many factors that lead to both outcomes but the individuals that started both cycles could've helped avoid both situations.

In all fairness to them it is on the box and they've been there a lot recently, in cups and pre-seasons. Yeovil was a new ground for everybody (unless you've been there with another club) so we were always likely to take a few, plus, although it is a lot further, it is pretty much straightforward getting to Huish Park.
Still, that's enough sticking up for them lot. Their reserve/cup team isn't quite up to our reserve/cup team, is it? :O

Defensively was the most worrying really. Just simple crosses into the box and leaving men unmarked on so many occasions was criminal. I understand none of them play together on a regular basis but getting the basics wrong so often was a slight concern 
Overall though it was an enjoyable night and the right result. Hopefully Long will have gotten some confidence back and SC learnt a few lessons about others.

We always used to go in the Antwerp Arms, not far from the ground but a bit of a walk through a dodgy-looking estate. Never had any trouble there or on route despite stories of the pub being rough. Got a feeling it was set on fire though and has since been closed

It was really sunny and we were on the Hawthorns Pub car park with a couple of Pompey fans. They asked us what we thought and most of us agreed we'd go down. I remember saying that we'd win but still go down. Funnily enough, the man and his wife we were chatting with from Portsmouth were optimistic that we would win and stay up.
During the game I remember the Pompey fans singing for us, "let 'em score" etc. and them being jubilant when Yanited took the lead at Southampton. Once we were 2 up there was much applause for the Pompey fans and the odd chant of the Portsmouth chimes from the BRE.
Once it was all over and we had the result confirmed everyone just ran on the pitch and that was that
