It's the good old glass half full/half empty syndrome again, depends on the individuals viewpoint
Or what is factually correct
I get that some are lauding it has a “very hard to heart” run,but some of the draws look a lot better if we chuck in. Just 2 or 3 more wins..
But factually the posters numbers were incorrect.

Very unusual behaviour for a moron who just happens to be a referee to be in the company of just one other moron. There's generally a little group of them most match days accompanied remotely by further morons in a little room somewhere with video cameras.
His book will be interesting .

Always pleased to see talented or skilful people leaving Man Utd. Having a very positive view of him during his time with us, made it worse him being employed there.
Wish they would re-employ Steve Bruce. Didn't he stay living in Cheshire so to be close to his beloved Old Trafford?
Lives in Barnt green

We've played 19 matches and lost only 2 so "unbeaten" in 17.
Except
We lost at home to Middlesbrough,so unbeaten in 11 is the current number .
Not too sure why it needs to be dressed up as anything ,we are 1 win in 13 ,that’s poor .

Sound familiar?

"Fifteen matches in and Juventus find themselves in sixth place in Serie A, still unbeaten in the league but incapable of a win
Seven draws in their past nine games under Motta and the fans have started to lose patience,
It's still early in the season to cast wild judgements. However, Motta has made some curious decisions that have attracted scrutiny."

So it's not just us!

What's the Italian for DeJa Vu?

"Against Empoli, a 0-0 draw, the media noted that Motta's substitutions nearly cost the team a defeat as they began to allow the opposition's counter-attacks"

Not trying to make any particular point here, just found it interesting to compare
The key word being “unbeaten”
It’s not a straight comparison

As CC clearly is not going to utilise Fabrotta, a LB is imperative to enable him to play others to their strengths, Conor Townsend has only got one game at Ipswich should we consider getting him back on loan?
No..I’ll play instead

I think Styles has been fantastic since coming in to LB.
He has…but I agree with the poster in that we should be playing “proper” LB and using styles further up the pitch .
Hegel is without doubt our best CB so should stay in that position.

Swift and Grady both gone in 6 months. Madness to extend surely
I think Grady is gone now..just waiting for the window to open
Swift I’m disappointed,he has got the technical ability but since he had that injury last season he’s even slower and we need to move on/move him on .
There are good upcoming number 10’s out there ,but I think we would be best served taking one on loan from a prem club rather than trying to bloody one as the position is key and they don’t get time .

Because from the resources which are currently at his disposal the manager isn't achieving what Zippyandbungle expects. If you're going to ask leading questions could you make them a little more challenging please? That one was far too easy; even for a Sunday morning. I don't see much of a future for you as a pub quiz host  ;D  ;) .
I expect better from you
If I were in charge he would be gone by now…not because I don’t like him (I’ve never met him) but because I think he has a better squad to work with than last season,we have had opportunities to take games and we have sat back ,we haven’t used players that were brought in correctly and we have put the mighty Jed on for 2 minutes…

I’d really like to see him tried in midfield instead of Molumby
At the moment I think we would be better to put him in (or Diakite) for Mowatt who looks a bit spent.

You say that but his assist to the assist was superb. Without that there isn’t a goal.

I thought he played very well today. Should’ve put that effort mentioned above on target but he’s definitely played his way into starting the next game for me.
I’m with you
Thought he was pretty outstanding and never stopped trying to turn their defence, his build up to fellows goals was fantastic.

You think he’s to blame for those two goals?
Yes
He’s in ultimate control/position of responsibilities ,he picked Bartley ,He presides over and instructs on sections of play/formation/tactics …
But each will set the argument to their narrative ….hes blameless and it’s all down to Lai?

And no doubt the usual suspects will blame The head coach.
Because he’s blameless ??

We play well
We score
We drop
We concede

We need a new way and a new manager
There is no realistic reason that you start a 60% Bartley over Holgate …
Mowatt has done nothing to keep being selected over the last 3-4 games …
Terrible

The board (or people that invest the £s) said at the start of the season that we are in a transitional period and Corberan is a big part of that and more importantly that fans need to be patient ...which is where I think your argument falls down. You are not showing patience.
The board have said they expect us to be challengingfor promotion and we are...why would they sack a manager that is achieving what they expect?
The simple answer is that even during a transitional period which we were in last year also , you would expect better results than we have amassed so far, better use of the options available to him and evolution rather than stagnation which is where we are?

Yes. From being top, we are now adrift by 10 points and 13 goals difference. Leeds have scored 33 and we have scored 19. We have a mountain to climb.
And unfortunately a draw against the blades in isolation would be decent for any in this league, but we have now pressure on ourselves due to many of the wasted opportunities to get 3 points when we turned it in to 1.
Watford are above us with GD +2 ,which is really poor for the play off places .

I agree 100%, but unfortunately some fans are unable or unwilling to buy into a long term plan. I'm not particularly meaning our fans, it's true across the board in football.
I don’t think there are many that don’t appreciate are in a better place than when he came, most agree that he has improved us over the last two seasons.
But that doesn’t mean he’s been perfect and this season finding wins is more difficult than it should be compounded by strange selections ,in game management and refusal to see the issues that everyone else can.
Doesn’t mean I do t see the longer term strategy it means I can’t see him being in place if we don’t start an upward trajectory rather than the current bore draw slide to mediocrity…and the people that invest the £’s will probably have similar thoughts .

I can understand why there are some fans upset, especially how we let Oxford back in the game, as an example.

But in my opinion, we should all be sticking together and showing our support for the team and manager. All the talk about Carlos is nonsense, and he is going nowhere. We are in difficult times and we must trust the people in charge at all levels at the club. Can we just concentrate on what we should be doing as supporters. I don't hear Carlos complaining about how quiet it is down the Hawthorns at times.
I’m not sure how you know “it’s nonsense”?
It’s football people move sometimes it’s expected and sometimes less so…but people constantly move.
Wolves are clearly not fully behind their manager and wether you are a Corberan fan or not..they are premiership, they have more resource than us and even if they came down you would expect them to have a much better chance of promotion next year against us if we stayed down.

He shouldn’t complain about being quiet,it’s his team that don’t motivate the locals enough or often enough to make the noise.

There is a little bit of noise that the Dingles have Corberan on their potential list of replacements for the Might Gary O’Neil…
If they officially approached that would be very interesting .

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: THE ALBION ASSEMBLY - PLEASE READ
« on: December 05, 2024, 12:28:29 PM »
Couple of questions/minor observations from a quick skim read.

1. Why are The Albion Foundation (TAF) moving their offices to the Birmingham County FA at Ray Hall Lane?

2. 'MM started the next agenda item by saying IS will invite Andrew Nestor to attend a future AA meeting, in the same vein as Shilen Patel attended one earlier this year'.

Here's hoping a few more Albion Assembly Members can make this one, it would be a little embarrassing if there were more representation from the Albion than from it's Assembly Members.

3. 'IS updated members on the creation of a ticketing working group, and committed to gathering further information before they got together for the first time. He said they were experimenting with accessible features on the app, and reiterated the club’s desire to move to it full-time in the future'.

So what happens regarding supporters who for whatever reason have no interest in using the App moving forward?

4. 'HLJ continued to the next item, matchday operations, and explained there had been encouragingly low numbers of arrests (four), ejections (around 20) and supporters who were refused entry (four) across the last seven Hawthorns matches'.

What were the arrests and ejections for across the last seven home games? Just being nosey. I imagine the four who couldn't get in must have been swaying all over the place as one of my mates practically trips, falls and gambols through the turnstiles unhindered on a fairly regular basis before doing some weird looking sway dance to his spot then doing the same sway dance at half time and on his way out. I'm genuinely a little concerned for his safety (yes I've had an adult conversation with him about this) and the stewards appear completely oblivious to his presence.

5. 'He (HLJ) said the club had written to and suspended more than 40 people who were being difficult towards stewards and fellow supporters......'

Could we have some examples of what 'being difficult towards stewards and fellow supporters' entails to discuss whether the stewards and offended supporters may actually have invited some 'difficulties' upon themselves?

6. '......with many invited to the stadium for a discussion and then allowed back on the promise of better behaviour. The fan referral scheme has also been used for more serious offenders, some of which have completed an education programme and subsequently signed a behavioural contract to improve the way they act at football matches'.

Do these 'discussions' involve a lecture and a verbal slap on the wrist or is there a two way communication process and are 'more serious offenders' expected to write lines for teacher on successful completion of said 'education programme(s)' before signing their 'behavioural contracts' on threat of deportation to Britain's former colonies and current dominions? If so I'd prefer a first class flight to Australia please but New Zealand or Canada would be just fine.

7. Food on the concourse; something for the club and their external providers to chew over. My son and his mate both had the Festive Turkey and Bacon roll thingy on the Smethwick concourse at a recent home game. Both rolls were stone cold and the bread itself was so stale it was stone hard. Apart from that they were just about edible apparently. According to several people nearby the pies were also cold. Not good enough really, especially given the prices charged for matchday 'refreshments'.
I can probably assist

Regarding the stewarding and the version of bad behaviour .
They decide and it’s their way or else
And if we don’t like it tough,or if we do like it tough …because all we do is pay money for the pleasure .
I can guarantee that if we wanted to we could get in to that stadium with a few tanks and helicopters past that ring of steel of orange safety bins that squeeze a few shoulders and nod …excellent safety tactics

Re the food
Nobody cares
And I think you need to stop moaning the pies are only £12 each for 0.2% meat content
Value beyond belief ,maybe take the taste test on the drinks too….try the bovril them then the coffee …see which one has taste and which is made in a nuclear fusion chamber

We have never had it so good

It's only December. As long as the top teams continue to amass as many points as they can, and the vile continue to plummet, this will be the only reason I will show any interest in their results.
You’ll do for me

Liverpool do look good I have too say.

Chelsea are also starting to look a challenger again.
Liverpool do indeed, but the wheels can come off very quick with the Salah contract issue.
I don’t think it’s all over yet they still have to go to city, play spurs twice and go to Chelsea…they could win all 4 ,they could also lose all 4.

By sacking CC we would be ruling out signings in January and quite possibly it could lead to a points deduction for financial breaches this in turn would have a knock on effect on succeeding years including wages , transfers and budgets in general. We’ve just had one narrow escape from administration we do not want to be going down that path again
I’ve seen this mentioned a few times,so the questions are
If getting rid of Carlos would cost us that much and put us in breech

A) do we actually believe that the board won’t do anything if the average points over a 10-15 game run hits 1.0-1.2 points per game
B) how did we actually turn down over 12m for fellows
C) how did we /why did we sign Johnstone

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Carlos Corberan

This is the nub of it.  Those complaining about the recruitment of Racic, Frabotta, Dobbin and such seem to overlook - deliberately or otherwise - that we don't have any leeway to spend a meaningful amount of money on players.  This may change when we can say goodbye to high earners - low product players like Wallace and Swift.

The expectation of some fans is unrealistic. The only game available to this club at the moment is the long game which may be influencing Cc to be cautious.
If there was no leeway for spending ,how did we sign Mikey Johnston?
I’m not sure that the majority of noise is around player recruitment, more the utilisation of the players or lack of in cases…
Fabrotta/Diakite/Cole have all to an extent been bombed out already and Styles/mulumby/Mcnair/Holgate got or get game time only when they were basically the last resort .
But he has constantly shoehorned Diangana/Racic and Wallace in to the team/match day squad despite some very poor and consistently below par performances
He is being applauded for the turnaround of Grant, when in real terms he binned him to Cardiff and it was Grant himself that paid to have a specialist individual training programme to get him the fitness he is now using to his advantage .

My expectation is that the managers used the squad at his disposal (which he isn’t) he sees what is wrong and doesn’t repeat the same mistakes (he keeps repeating) and that he has the flexibility and understanding to evolve and improve the ability
Of the playing staff (I see players that look visibly worse under him MJ,Swift,Diangana,Mowatt,Wallace)
I believe there is enough in the squad to be in the top 6 ,but the manager needs to change it up and fast .
