Without Gourlay we have no firewall at all to stop Lai taking more money out of the club. Lai cannot be trusted, Ken, his lackey who signed off on the previous loan cannot be trusted. The only other guy on the board looks after the ticket office and club shop and has zero clout. Gourlay walking would be a disaster IMV; and I can't get my head around fans trying to blame him for the owners action and inaction. He has been as honest and direct with fans as he can be. Nor does it make any sense to want the guy who appointed Corberan and works with him and the only guy in the boardroom with experience in the industry to leave the club.
I fully agree with this 82, spot on.
Having listened to the interview, I am concerned about his comment that 'the loan will be repaid in some shape or form', which I can only assume is suggesting some sort of offset against dividend payments - so no hard cash return potentially.
The amount that Lai paid for us has often said to be between £175m and £200m, so it was nice of him to confirm that it was £200m.
I don't get this 'I don't believe him' slant that some are mentioning, he is in a very difficult position and he is hardly going to call his employer out is he? Whilst I know that he made a lot of promises when he took the post regarding DoF, additional board members etc, it must be very difficult when your paymaster blocks it.
It would be a disaster if, at this stage, we lost Gourlay as it would only leave 'Dave the programme seller' with any knowledge about football down there.....
