Yeah im with you on that.

I dont think the majorty of  posters take there time to come on here and post their disillusions with wba  as a means for attention.
Surely the forum is the place to voice opinions anyway.

I dont think ive ever felt as lost with WBA as i do right now.  and its the first time ive ever come on here and said so.
I think many like myself are long term supporters.

Its a combination of the modern game and the way the club is run/currently playing to be sure.
If you've followed the game and in particular WBA enough its not particularly surprising that we  field weakened teams in the cup,  that we dont extend financially beyond our reach and so forth.

Peace's statement about mid table championship club stinks.  I dont accept it.  It was a lowering expectations exercise and did it work?,  hell no.  We've been here for 5 years and we want to stay and most supporters feel that way.

Where do we go from here?  Or more the point where do we go from Winter 2012 when we were on 33 points.

Well, for starters Swansea, Stoke and Southampton are three clubs that have come from where we have.  Can we at least expect to have a go like them?  I dont see them overreaching financially.

We are getting it wrong both on and off the pitch. We should expect to compete  in this division even with our resources.
And that is why some are so unhappy including myself.

How do you overreach financially when your owner is worth £3 billion (Southampton) or is willing and able to cover losses worth as much as JP's entire fortune (Stoke)? We may not be doing as well as Swansea, but we are still very much overachieving.

I'll give you a longer version 24 hours later:  doing stuff around the house listening to the radio, 2-0 up, I did a little dance (I'm 53, I actually did a little dance), 20 points before Xmas, here we go , then the pen, and you could suddenly feel it through the radio that it was going to go pear-shaped, it was almost scripted for Austin, it all drained away and there I was as 16.53 watching SKY sports news as Berahino hit the bar, head in hands, hating God.

Then I drank too much with my brother.  Then I watched  a recording of "Black Mirror: White Xmas" (instead of MoTD, can't watch when we lose) where a bloke ends up trapped inside an endless loop of the worst moment of his life where every second takes 1000 years to go by... big mistake...

I slept badly, very badly, but that's the deal.  If it wasn't for terrible moments like yesterday, then 1968 wouldn't have been one of the best moments of my young life, the Great Escape, 5-3 at Old Trafford, hauling back Wolves from 11 points behind, Regis smacking it in from 30 yards...

If it doesn't hurt, it doesn't matter.  I often wish it didn't matter to me on days like this but it does, and when we nick a point on the last day to stay up it will be... well, I will do a little dance.

On rare occasion it's an advantage having to wake up early to watch the Albion. I just crawled back into bed and felt sorry for myself.

I envy covet your memories. All I can do is watch them on YouTube and wear my 1968 and 1979 shirts.

Brunt and Anichebe are a miss when it comes to defending them. Under Roy we had Reid and Ridgewell at full back who were also proficient aerially.

Edit: Forgot to mention Paul Shcarner at DM.

Ridgewell, excellent point. Always a beast at defending corners.

As I said the point being he was quick to congratulate himself previously, wasn't that then also down to the players ?

Could be. The whole thing baffles me.

Dean Kiely was quick to self congratulate himself not long ago about how well we dealt with set pieces, well time to slate yourself today Dean as we didn't deal with them.

Kiely was in charge of set piece defence under Hodgson, and we hardly allowed any goals from corners then. Maybe this has more to do with the players?

(I'm not disagreeing with you, only pointing out this may be a more complicated matter.)

Bookings -- lots of bookings. If the ref is uncertain, it's simulation. Give players strong incentives to stay upright.

And anyone who collapses and writhes on the pitch after the briefest contact to the face gets sent off.

Maccbaggie why don't you send your CV in as you will be a ready replacement for when this idiot irvine gets the boot
If you need an assistant make your first job to get rid of Downing and I'm free

I've thought about suggesting this a few times myself, but I didn't want to be the first.

I get what Jim is saying i think maybe wrong but the frustration and disappointment of being an average side or tilting that way, I have had my own opinion ready all day for this thread, Here it goes.

Remember when people was saying on here about Wigan a few seasons ago about not deserving to win an fa cup or be in the premiership because of there lack of history and fanbase ? It stunk of ignorance and is 100% not relevant to a team achieving something. What they had was a manager in martinez who believed in a certain way of football a chairman who supported him and then players which fed off that and believed in there own and eachothers ability and gave it a right go infact getting relegated by it but tasting cup glory at same time.
Blythe spartans and the pint poorers and newsagent helpers who have reached the 3rd round of the fa cup they had no right to do so but achieved this fantastic feat from believing and working for eachother.

Most posters on here will be more successful than me but the couple times i have been successful in things its resulted from self belief, ambition and the correct mentality. Us as a club in the last 10 years it has came from managers with incredible belief and willingness to achieve something for our club, The managers who have got us promoted and the ones who have helped us finish in superb premiership positions beating the likes of liverpool, arsenal, man utd and so on who would of ever thought that aswel as the villa.

What do we have at the moment ? we have a number 2 that seems to be well in with the players to the point its unhealthy, A guy who has turned down the job to lead our club read into that what you will but to me it stinks of being scared and happy with mediocrity no self ambition regarding our club. Our current head coach praises opposition fans, worries stiff about other teams and is happy to draw games of footy against average sides aswel as installing that mentality into our players.

WestBromJim was critiquing JP's business acumen.

It will be a sad day when someone finally takes the Vile off Randy Lerner's hands. If only JP had the ambition to lose as much money as Lerner has.   ;)

Aidan, you might as well throw in the towel when it comes to trying to get anyone to show Alan Irvine some respect. At this point almost everyone feels entitled to abuse him in any way possible. I'm half expecting to see a "Let's kill Alan Irvine and desecrate his corpse" topic at some point today.

Only missed it by three days.  ::)

The more he talks the more i think there is something very delusional about him TBH.  He seems very frightened to me and that is reflected in his team selections and game plan.
I think he knows he is in a job that is above him, thought he had got away with it a few weeks ago and now is back up to his neck in it.
No confidence in his own ability, full of doubts, needs constant praising or defaults back to negativity. Dour man, dour football.
With a moronic coaching staff that keeps pinching themselves to believe they still have a job.
Festering mediocrity heading for relegation, with a squad that is easily mid table....shocking.

Our very own Captain Queeg, eh?  ::)

no mate I expect a little bit of ambition
If you aren't expecting the club to operate at a loss, then there isn't much money left to argue about.

One of the reasons I seldom post on this site anymore, is because of total adulation given by the members to Peace, I have disliked him and his methods for many many years, and I took the decision 4 years ago not to renew my season tickets.
I hate to see the way our club is being ruined by an accountant, who uses Albion as his route to personal riches.
It bothers me that so many true supporters can't see the truth.
The infrastructure at the club is totally bankrupt of any flair or leadership, everything is controlled by Peace. He pays huge salaries to mediocre yes men, who are afraid to disagree with the paymaster.
He has to take 100% blame for the position of the club at this time, as every decision is authorised by him.

I hear Carson Yeung will be out of jail by March 2020. He has flair to spare.

Peace. Isn't the second coming he's a lucky boy that the fans haven't turned on him for lack of ambitiion on the transfer front and with the stadium expansion. Here this rubbish all the time about how good our owner is and be careful what you wish for if he leaves, what we might get someone who will invest in team and stadium and not penny pinch how awful

So you expect the owner to run the club at a loss?

He has made the biggest mistake of his life tonight in bowing down to the fans. It has made him look weak. His position amongst the supporters (as they demonstrated tonight) has now become untenable. He will not win them back.

Although it may not have been entirely up to him. Burton could have had a word, in which case his position is weak.
