Saw a few comments about the atmosphere from the weekend, a comment got me thinking, can't remember who it was exactly but it was something along the lines of.
"Expectations will change and then the atmosphere will go" (Now, that wasn't exactly the comment but its basically the point that was made). In reference to the atmosphere Crystal Palace are able to create at the moment in what would you say is their 'celebration year'.
Ok, so basically its like it for pretty much every club eventually, the expectations are increased by a vast amount and the atmosphere is a bit more tense and edgy, which is what stage The Hawthorns is in now, on the most part. You could use games like Saturday as an example.
There is no doubt that there has been a change for the atmosphere in recent years and I'm not going to go on one of these rants. ' Lets make it an intimidating atmosphere' etc........... as we have seen that plenty of times.
I'm just curious, was trying to jog my memory in thinking, when did our atmosphere change? How many promotions/relegations did it take??
Until basically the expectations got to a level we were not used to and the pressure on the players to get the results didn't make it feel like a home game as such.
