West Bromwich Albion FC / Fortune Joins Doncaster on loan
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:09:24 PM »
Looks like Doncaster are in for him on a loan, they have recently signed Chris Kirkland on loan and El Hadj Diouf.

Skysports.com understands Doncaster are lining up a move for West Brom striker Marc-Antoine Fortune.

Doncaster boss Dean Saunders is looking to continue his reshaping of the squad at the Keepmoat Stadium by bringing in Fortune on a short-term deal.

Fortune has slipped down the pecking order at West Brom this season, with his only start coming in the Carling Cup win over Bournemouth in August.

Shane Long, Peter Odemwingie, Somen Tchoyi and Simon Cox are all ahead of Fortune in Roy Hodgson's first-team plans at West Brom.

West Brom could be willing to loan out Fortune so that he can get some valuable first-team action under his belt.

Rovers have shown their ambition in the transfer market by luring El-Hadji Diouf, Pascal Chimbondaand Herita Ilunga to South Yorkshire and they are hoping to strike a deal for Fortune.

General Football & Sports / Obi Mikel
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:02:01 PM »
The lad was informed a few days back that his dad has been abducted in Nigeria. He played for Chelsea yesterday and put in a good performance as well. He was also just on Sky Sports News' studio talking about it, incredibly brave!

Hope everything ends up fine!

General Football & Sports / Neil Lennon
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:12:32 PM »
I was just looking through the BBC website to find two articles...

Celtic coach Neil Lennon was knocked unconscious while being assaulted in Glasgow on Sunday, the club has said.
A Celtic football club spokesman said Lennon was the target of "sectarian abuse" while walking home alone.
The former Celtic and Northern Ireland player was then subjected to a "serious assault" by two men during which he was "knocked unconscious", the club said.
Lennon was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary and treated for a cut to his eye and concussion.
The attack happened hours after Celtic lost their SPL home match against Old Firm rivals Rangers.
A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 12.25am to a report of a 37-year-old man assaulted in Ashton Lane.

The assault came after Neil was subjected to sectarian abuse. It is understood that during the course of the attack Neil lost consciousness.
Celtic FC spokesman
"The injured man was taken to hospital then released after treatment for minor injuries.
"He did not wish to make a complaint; however, police inquiries are ongoing into the incident."
Police described one suspect as white, 40 to 50 years of age and of heavy build. He was wearing a light-blue shirt and a black leather jacket.
The second suspect was described as white and between 40 to 50 years of age. He was wearing a light-coloured shirt.
A Celtic spokesman said: "We can confirm that while walking home alone last night, Neil Lennon was the victim of a serious assault by two men.
"The assault came after Neil was subjected to sectarian abuse.
"It is understood that during the course of the attack Neil lost consciousness.
"He was then taken by ambulance to hospital where his injuries were treated and he was later released.
"Strathclyde Police are carrying out an investigation into the assault, and clearly Neil will be fully co-operating with this."
'Sectarian abuse'
A friend of Mr Lennon, who did not want to be named, said the Celtic coach had gone out for a drink with friends in Ashton Lane at about 2200 BST.
The friend said that when Lennon left shortly after midnight he heard someone shout sectarian abuse.
He said Lennon was then "jumped from behind, hit over the head and knocked unconscious".
The Celtic coach was spotted lying in the street by a steward from a nearby pub, who called an ambulance.
The friend said Lennon's partner, who had been trying to contact him, was "extremely distressed" when she learned that he was in hospital.
In September 2003, two students were fined after an attack on Lennon in Glasgow.
In another incident, vandals daubed graffiti outside his home in Glasgow in May 2004.
In 2003, Lennon vowed he would never play for his country again because of a reported death threat.
Loyalist paramilitaries insisted the warning was bogus, but Lennon, a Catholic, said he was not prepared to suffer any more sectarian victimisation.
He had previously been booed by sections of the Northern Ireland support.

AND....

Parcel bombs sent to Celtic manager Neil Lennon and two high-profile fans of the club were designed to cause "real harm", according to police.

The liquid-based devices were addressed to Lennon, Paul McBride QC and former Labour MSP Trish Godman.

Strathclyde Police Det Supt John Mitchell, of Strathclyde Police, told a press conference it had been a "despicable and cowardly act".

The devices were found at various locations in the west of Scotland.

The first suspect package was intercepted by the Royal Mail in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, on 26 March and was addressed to Mr Lennon at Celtic's training ground in nearby Lennoxtown.

Devices were sent to Neil Lennon (L), Trish Godman and Paul McBride QC

Who are the parcel bomb targets?
Two days later a device was delivered to Labour politician Ms Godman's constituency office in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire. Her staff were suspicious of the package and contacted Strathclyde Police.

The third package was addressed to Mr McBride at the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh.

It is believed to have been posted in Ayrshire before being found in a letter box by a postal worker on Friday and taken to a Royal Mail sorting office in Kilwinning, where police were contacted.

Det Sup Mitchell said: "The initial assessment was that they may have been a hoax. That being said, the investigation that followed was very important.

"We sent devices to specialists for forensic examination and, on the back of that, we now realise they were indeed viable devices."

'Significant harm'
He added: "They were definitely capable of causing significant harm and injury to individuals if they had opened them.

"It is important to say that there is no doubt that there is someone out there with information that can assist us and take this inquiry forward and the quicker the better."

Speaking at the same press conference at Strathclyde Police's Glasgow headquarters, Ch Sup Ruaraidh Nicolson appealed for the public to be "vigilant".

He said the packages were not targeted at the general public but said it would be "sensible to take precautions".

"If they receive something in the mail that they are unhappy about or they didn't expect to receive, then they need to think about phoning the police," he said.

Detectives are also investigating another package addressed to Neil Lennon which was found at a sorting office in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, on 4 March but this has not been confirmed as an explosive device.

It is understood that specialist anti-terrorist officers are involved in the investigation but a source close to the inquiry said they were "not linking this to any terrorist organisation".

Lennon, a 39-year-old Catholic from Lurgan, County Armagh, has endured threats, abuse and violence since joining Celtic in 2000.

In January this year bullets addressed to the Celtic manager were intercepted at a sorting office in Glasgow. They appeared to have been sent from an address in Northern Ireland.

Mr McBride is one of the highest-profile QCs in Scotland and a well-known Celtic fan, who has acted for the club and Mr Lennon on several occasions.

Ms Godman has a lower public profile than Mr Lennon or Mr McBride, but is well known in political circles as an avid Celtic fan.

Until dissolution of the Scottish Parliament last month, she was deputy presiding officer and the Labour MSP for West Renfrewshire.

On her last day as an MSP she was pictured in the Holyrood chamber wearing a Celtic football top.

I really can't stand Lennon as a person, I think he is such a horrible person just in general, and as much as I have NO respect for him, how can people do this to him? It is quite frankly disgusting!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Does Roy know our players?
« on: March 06, 2011, 11:00:34 AM »
I think he does very well, against Birmingham the way he conducted our changes were very impressive. When Jara came on he never played right back from what I could tell, it looked as if he played right midfield. When Tamas came on looked as if he went right back with Reid adding some steal to the centre midfield, and then of course we had the inspiring sub of Odemwingie.

I don't think RDM would have made changes like this when he was managing, this is whats good about having a new manager.
