West Bromwich Albion FC / Vendetta Time

Listening to WM at the moment and there seems a theme on there that is almost a personal vendetta against him from Paul Franks

The jumped up Dingle must be very jealous that hes having to support a side in League One.

Its unacceptable and whats more is some of our fans are fueling the sodding fire.

With the Premier Leagues 25 man squad rule now being inplace for the best part of 3 seasons is the Premier League now seeing the benefits of this?

Clubs who notoriously stocked up on players during the mid 2000’s such as Liverpool and Chelsea without the foresight to develop home grown players (something Liverpool had been famous for up until the turn of the new millennium) have found themselves either dragged back into the pack league wise or dropping down the table as in the case of Liverpool.

However sides like Us, Everton, Norwich (in the case of this season) who have slowly been built on budgets way less than the sides mentioned above have this season seemed to bridge the gap in terms of league placings.
I am a believer that players that many sides from 6th down are now attracting is down to the fact that teams can no longer ‘bulk’ buy.

Take our squad for instance a few years ago players such as Yacob, Odemwingie, Long, Foster etc. would have been part of a club where they would have been reserve footballers playing only cup and European games somewhat wasting careers now due to the squad rule they are at clubs where they play regularly and are show casing their abilities.

In my view long may this continue as the Premier League seems to be finding abit more competitiveness for the first time since the big money came into our game.

Now Fulham are a team we ideally are looking to become, consistant midtable with the occaisonal flirtation with relegation depending on the strength of the league.

Murphy said there form is typical Fulham

'Win three on the bounce then loose three on the bounce'

Are we entering a period at our club where we need to recognise that its not all excitement when you start to register yourself as competitive at this level thus not being a cup final every week.

West Bromwich Albion FC / The rest of the season
« on: November 20, 2011, 07:29:01 PM »
With the return to fitness of Gera I think this will be the final piece of the jigsaw on Roys plan, no one can deny in my view the improvement we have made at the back as we do now look tighter and more competitive at this level but without that supporting forward that we now have in Gera it all seemed too slow and laboured which had led to criticism of 'long ball' tactics.

I feel the rest of the season will see us show alot more quality going forward and we will get the points to not be in the relegation mire, I feel though some players may get left behind in this progression and some of these players maybe ones seen as key to our success last season.

How does everyone else see the rest of the season going?

This for me shows how very similar his two second season defences were for both us and Fulham, in all fairness ours is more experienceg games wise and Fulham finished in a European Place that season

It seems like Roy has a plan on how a defence should be built up.

Also looking at the two squads its very similar all the way throughout, with regards to experience and player numbers for certain positions and even down to the details of the types of players shipped out and not replaced during the closed season for both clubs

I am still annoyed we didnt replace at least one of our defenders with someone alot more experienced at top level and also leaving a lack of depth in the left back slot should Shorey get crocked

But to me its pretty obvious just as Peace and Ashworth have a model on how a club should be run,  Roy also has his model on what makes a successful side for the level we are at an hes adopted it during this closed season

Got very into it at late, the excitement of both flat and National Hunt racing is really dripping me.

I know Peter Barnes on here loves his horses just wondered whether anyone else does.

The skill of some of these jockeys to manage the pace and power of the horses over a course is tremendous

The best bit is

SOMEN TCHOYI: A good guy but everybody thinks he is about 45 years old. When he got man-of-the-match after the Manchester City cup game the manager said: “I hope you train properly now you’ve got the shirt.” I don’t think City knew what to do with him – probably because he’s so old.

Back in 1967 QPR were denied a UEFA Cup place due to not being a top flight club, this got me thinking do the same rules apply, if so will Blues be denied entry if they go down.

The PFA want it brought in over here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9441854.stm

The biggest load of rubbish I have ever read, a football team should not be made to interview anyone if their CV isnt good enough for what they feel is needed at their club

I wish the PFA would not try to make a problem where their isnt one.

There is a lack of black managers because there was a lack of Black proffessional players up until say 25 years ago.

I would argue in another 10 years it will be alot more commonplace

What a refreshing pundit, someone who talks with unbiased honesty, humility and with a great knowledge of the game certainly better than the likes of Hansen, Shearer, Gray etc.
