It would have been irrelevant if somebody wanted him as he couldn’t have started work any earlier on health grounds !

I sort of understood why Mowbray picked the team he did at Millwall. Its a difficult and intimidating place to go and they will bully you, so filling the spine of the team with big guys with presence (Ajayi, Heggem, Diakite and Lankshear) I get.

Oxford at home is a completely different scenario though. They are not great. I want to see Armstrong and Lankshear through the middle and the two wingers restored. There's no reason we shouldn't be having a right go at these and be beating them. I'd bring in Griffiths if I had my way but I don't think Mowbray will, I can just about live with that:

                       Griffiths

Furlong    Ajayi    Heggem        Styles

                 Molumby  Mowatt
Fellows                                        Johnston

                 Lankshear  Armstrong

I could live with Diakite or Price ahead of Mowatt if Mowbray decides on that but if he doesn't put out a formation like this I'll be concerned and if we then fail to win the game he (Mowbray) is going to get his first serious criticism from me. Armstrong is a 20 goal striker who likes playing off a partner (Che Adams example), I don't want him stuck out on the left wing. It's hard to be a fox in the box if you're never in there.
If you’re going to go with that formation then the two central midfielders who can get around the pits as they are most likely to be outnumbered . They also need to be able to pass the ball accurately.
In an ideal world I think 352 would suit our players better but doubt we’ll see that

But the club would have had some idea about the extent of their injuries and the timing of their return to the first team I would have thought.
Maybe but they probably wouldn’t be expecting Bartley to get sent off having just come back from injury !

I would love to know what the club was thinking by recalling him and then immediately sending him back to the same club. Very strange.
He couldn’t go anywhere else other than non league as you can only play for two teams in one season. He was called back as both Bartley and Ajayi were injured

I am intrigued.Keep seeing he doesn’t know what his best team is then see loads of different alternatives on here so perhaps it isn’t as obvious as to what that is .

I don't think you've got it right, i'm saying Mowbray attacks in the same way CC did and encounters the same problems CC did when it's not working.
How can that be right . The axis of Corberan attack was Maja  , he hasn’t been available to Mowbray yet .
The central midfield has much more licence to roam under Mowbray

I said a bit ago in another thread this is the best way of getting Lankshear & Armstrong into the starting line up. Which players in the system is down to personal preference. Doubt it will happen Saturday as it’s a very quick turnaround but there is a free week between Millwall and Oxford so that would make sense !

6 wins in 27 or roughly 1 win in every 4 says more to me about the players abilities than who is a good/ bad coach/ manager

I personally would have opted for Johnstone and Mowatt to be withdrawn

That being said - Fellows once did not even attempt to beat his man.  Just a strange obsession with cutting in and running into trouble.

Anyone of that 11 could have been dragged off to be honest.
I said during the game Mowatt and Fellows . What I wasn’t expecting was Diangana on the right and Wallace central .That made no sense to me especially with Lankshear on as well we needed to get the ball in from wide areas something Wallace is more capable of or feed little balls through which Diangana is more suited to. I would like to see Fellows and Johnston swap wings occasionally say for ten minutes just let the defenders look at something different

We were awful before Swift and Wallace came on tonight, as I have said on numerous occasions the squad is as bad as it’s been in over twenty years.
This is the truth of the matter. Corberan defensive organisation meant we could keep our heads above water in the play off battle but anything more adventurous is going to give us a few more games like last night.
Our defending early in the season was very good and it came from having a back four of Furlong , Ajayi, Bartley and Heggem which gave us a stable base with plenty of physicality. The last two games with have struggled with only Heggem capable of winning aerial duels consistently

He got too many things wrong tonight including the balance in midfield and the position he asked the subs to play , Wallace and Diangana should surely have been the other way round . He has clearly gone out on a limb for Armstrong but outside of the penalty area he offers very little , he’s not a target man , he’s not a link man and he isn’t a wide left player

Very poor tonight. Passing was diabolical either giving it away or putting a team mate into a no win situation. Wingers seemed intent on running towards their own goals .
Midfield is a big concern and TM hadn’t got it right. The starting 3 tonight are all very samey , it needs to
be two from three with a more creative player in there with them.We had the chance to do that with the subs but inexplicably put Wallace and Diangana in the wrong positions as it had to be much better with Diangana as the 10 and Wallace on the right wing . Not sure how we do it but we need to get Armstrong and Lankshear in the team together but the centre of midfield then gets out numbered. .
We started the game so slowly it just allowed them to settle back into shape and a true indictment is the fact that our only serious effort on goal was a header from Heggem which hit the post.
Less said about Mowatt and Styles tonight the better

Quite impressed with the standard shown by our boys who looked better all round than Newcastle. Think several could make the step up in due course. The winger Higgins talented on the ball and the left back, think it was Jamal Mohammed, strong going forward. Can't find any league table for PL2.
The LB was a lad called Parker , Mohammed was playing CB alongside Semi

We got what we deserved in the end - those last three minutes we're just beautiful really. Every single emotion was experienced within those three minutes.

I thought we were the better team in the first half but never made it count. We never really created that opening and the loss of Fellows and Johnstone looked noticeable.

We had 3 big chances in the first half , two for Grant and one for Armstrong as well as a couple of shots from around the edge of the box we probably should have done better with

For those worrying he could be just like Marshall last season don’t ! This lad is a unit , physically ready for this level . His first three involvements today earned us one goal and two free kicks. Like all strikers a goal would help him produce even more
