My favourite view is the one from our goal, Bartley has his arms up before it hits the net.

Son in law did his Achilles in Sept playing rugby, 8 weeks non weight bearing then moon boot, walking and physio, not running yet.
Neil Webb injured his playing for England and never really got back to the same standard, hopefully things have advanced since then.

Now that Snodgrass has been released is that an indication VI is staying? Otherwise would we not have retained him for a new manager to assess.

Personally I believe him to be ok at this level, but like several others is very low on confidence.

Pereira on bench, is this Sam showing that after a sending off you have to fight your way back. Also at Anfield we will be doing a lot of defending so gone for Robbos extra pace on the break.

Grant wants to come, all agreed his end. Just the clubs trying to find an agreement. Would expect us to play hardball over payment as usual.

For me Bilic has international connections and if we go up some players that would not consider us may come here if Bilic is manager.
Also he makes substitutions that change games often for better but with that risk they also do not always come off. At least he makes changes that may have an impact we have not had that for a long time.
Not sure I can think of a more influential manager than him who may come to this club unless you want to g o back to 10 man defence.
Deserves a chance in the Prem or second attempt here same as Bielsa got at Leeds.

Sloppy, simple passes misplaced and players waiting for the ball having their pockets picked. Lacked some urgency and a poor display. Lucky to get a point.

Not sure he will bring in both Townsend and Hagazi on the left of defence, more likely Townsend and Stick with Bartley for this game.
Love to beat these as live in the area and suffered for many years at their hands just starting to get own own back.

Seems Colin loves coming to The Hawthorns according to Walesonline, because ‘it’s a proper place’ . Let’s make sure he does not like it so much after the game. They will defend in numbers and try to hit us on the break Pulis style. Good test for us and would be nice for Charlie to feet off the mark.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Under 23's / Academy Thread
« on: July 09, 2019, 01:01:29 PM »
Over the last 3/4 years the academy has been brilliant, producing a string of talented youngsters.
To have young players being pursued by Man City and Barca would have been unthinkable not so long ago. Who can blame those people for taking that chance, our issue should be in the compensation paid for developing players and add on for future sales.
The money involved at first team levels with promotion or relegation means it will always hard to make the breakthrough for younger players.

Phillips needs to start, if you bring him on with 30 mins left he may not make it through if there is any extra time.

I was just hoping a manager would come in so they could assess the squad properly before the summer, given the clearout that has to happen whichever league we are in.

Judging by the highlights I think the camera person may have recorded proceeding on their mobile phone while swinging around in a hammock....... in a gale.
I think you can safely say VAR will not be coming to QPR anytime soon.

Well done the coaching team for spotting Swansea’s weakness at the back post on set plays. Controlled performance and I thought fairly comfortable win.

Lots of positives to take from the match, for me the midfield energy provided by Morrison used in preference to Brunt or Barry is important. Interested to see where we go from here with team selection.

« on: October 11, 2018, 01:26:42 PM »
Begs the question though, why does anyone need a scapegoat? We are unbeaten in 7 games.
I'm not a fan of Mears by any means, and think we need a better back up when Phillips is out, but a scapegoat is someone who gets blamed when things go wrong. Since he came in we haven't lost and I can't remember him directly costing us a goal so, while he isn't the greatest by any means, there's nothing to blame him for.
I agree it was a decent cross by the way.

Agree completely, once we lose a 2 in a row the vitriol on here may be horrendous.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Thoughts on the Season to date
« on: October 10, 2018, 09:03:16 AM »
It’s much more interesting than the last 5 seasons have been.
DM has made some decisions with subs I don’t agree with but they have worked (Spurs last year, Wednesday this season) but that’s why he is running things, he is far more astute than I gave him credit for.
Goals scored by us have been rare in recent years and it is now great to see, but this increase has been at both ends of the pitch.
Only downside is we sit high in the league have had a better start than most thought (check Stoke and Swansea) but still some of our supporters are not happy. I understand we want perfection, but enjoy the good times, celebrate the positives and remember Mears is wearing stripes and giving his all.

Reminds me a lot of the Ardiles season so far, settling into a new system after a few years of tedium. Good attitude from the players, always a risk but we had to chase the game and they left a couple of quick lads up front to cause us problems on the break. It worked last night in the last 15 minutes but sometimes we will lose by 3-0 from that position when having a go.
I personally much prefer to watch the we will score more than you style than the turgid years we have just endured. Sure it may not get us promotion and return to the invest or die League, but it’s going to o be a hell of a rollercoaster.

Chris has continued his habit of silly fouls committed due to his lack of pace. With his central position this can be very costly. His inevitable ban will allow a change in personnel within 10 matches.

Quote from Sky’s championship expert David Prutton which shows he knows very little about us.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports he said, “This is a tough one to call between two very big, powerful sides who thrive from set-piece situations.
