Holy rubbish the irony...taking the urine about me posting on a wba forum when I’m posting on your own forum at a thread dedicated to Wolves!!!

Seriously though...you’re rivalry with villa will be bigger at the moment because you’re in direct competition with them for promotion, just as it seemed our rivalry with them had gone through the roof last season because again we were in direct competition with them, in reality they were just a bunch of bad losing billy big boots, apparently they won the European cup a hundred years ago or something.

I genuinely hope you sneak promotion, I really do, the BCD is a fantastic game, I savour every minute, apart from the ones when I’m normally dying inside having watched you beat us again lol, come back up, the games wth Leicester just aren’t the same

Its "one" thread where we keep all the pooh in one place, we also have threads for villa, stoke and blues or did you forget those or just fail to see them which would be difficult (for most people) as the villa one has been used regularly last few days.

Now toddle off, i'm sure theres a Walsall forum you can try and troll

In the 1950s it was quite common for people in Tipton, where I lived, to go to the Albion one week and Wolves the next. I used to go with a mixed group of kids from school, some Albion, some Wolves, to Albion-Wolves derbies home and away and there was never a hint of trouble. There was no segregation of fans back then.

In Smethwick, where my grandparents lived, pretty much the same applied with Albion and Villa games.

By and large fans couldn't afford to follow their team to away games because transport costs were prohibitive and of course there were no motorways to speed up journey times.

There was friendly rivalry back then, but not the out and out hatred that so many seem to thrive on these days.

I'm not speaking for you mate. I'm speaking generally,  I'm speaking about perception from outside our fans. I'm talking about Villa Park rarely selling out against us. I'm talking about Vile fans being bothered they lost, but not that they lost to us. We're barely mentioned in any of the pooh posts on VT it's all about their manager etc. This defeat hasn't bothered them anymore than losing to Brentford in midweek did.

You obviously don't know many villa fans up there in scouselend. There were plenty on Saturday who let us know how much they care about us and have done so since.

Its the same old argument, age, location blah blah. Only time I give a stuff about the wolves was when I lived there and that was more personal reasons than football. There was no rivalry until Bull joined them.

As the name suggests I was born in 87, so by the time I was old enough to understand properly and started going up the Albion in the early/mid 90's the Wolves were always the big rivalry game for the season due to proximity; also didn't help that several of the kids in my year group at school were gobby Wolves fans.

The Villa were just some team in the premier league that none of the rest of us could get anywhere near at the time so didn't really register on my radar. The area i'm in (Blackheath/Rowley) was mostly a split between Albion and Wolves fans when I was growing up with a smattering of Villa fans who pipe up once in a while about winning some milk bottle fight in a bar in Amsterdam or something that one time.

My dad would say Villa is the big rival, but for me it's the Wolves, though I can understand why many; usually in the older generations; feel it's the Villa.

It's all about age, location and league proximity I think...

Edit:

That's not to say I don;t still see Villa as one of our main rivals, of course they are, and I enjoyed beating them at the weekend greatly, It's just not as intense for me as it is with the Dingles.

Jacko calling. Jacko calling. This is Jacko calling, your Voice of the Vilers on the Daily Dingle at westbrom.com.

Doghead forces gather on your borders. As I type hordes of the now seven fingered inbreds in tangerine and kack are threatening your very existence. They are super humans and their now seven digits come in ‘handy’ when fingering multiple relatives’ simultaneously so beeeeeee warned, as they are cumming for YOU!

Your only hope is allegiance with the Pink and Blue Pyjama Clan. They are easily distinguished by the use of garish colours in their uniforms and the barely audible high pitched whining of Veeeeeeeeela, and 1982. Listen closely and thou shalt hear as though from far away. Very, very, far away. They are your brothers from other mothers just down the road, it is but a quirk of fate their chromosomes are so different from your own. Trust those closer to you as those further away are of the unknown.

Thank your fathers if you can for having denied you a share in the Pink and Blue Pyjama Clan’s greater glory, their influence over you being parochial and well-intentioned yet ultimately doomed to failure. But fear not Baggie Boys for the Pink and Blue Pyjama Clan only hate the Zulus in Blue and secretly love you all. They may only ever mention it occasionally if ever when in your company but you know that they know that you know that they are but a warm embrace away……, trust me on this one as your Jacko knows everything about everybody in the wider world.

That is all for now Baggie Boys, stay tuned  8)  ;D  ;) .

I have to admit that watching any of the Tolkein films does make me think of dingles every time I see an Orc appear on screen.

Whereas Attenborough and his artic / antactic / blue planet .....  How I love to see an Orca tossing a seal about !

I've just had a mental image of Sir David Attenborough directing and doing a talk over for an animal porn movie.

Given that Stoke is a fairly short journey up the M6 from Wolverhampton, and alot of Wolves support comes from the Cannock area, I'm surprised there's not more of a Wolves-Stoke rivalry.

Their owners' invested in the club to get them into the Premiership.
They lost £1m a week during 2017-18.

They played roulette and won, any losses will be wiped out this year with their premierleague money. What makes the championship so good but at the same time so bad is that clubs throw everything at it to go up but there are only 3 winners.

If you go up you are ok, if you throw everything at it and don’t then you are stuffed. If you don’t really throw anything at it and live within your means without a rich owner pumping loads in then you will basically be midtable unless you do some very shrew business.

Unfortunately if we don’t go up this year and next we will fall in to the third category.

I still don't understand FFP. can someone explain how you can lose £50m and then spend £109 m and stay within the rules.

Because the clubs losses are taken into account over a three year period. A club can only lose £39 million on a rolling three-year period, but Wolves previous financials mean they're fine, including something like £90 million of assets which offset losses. There are two interesting things here though -

1/ Wolves wage bill included £20 million pounds of promotion bonuses, so they only spent that much because they were promoted.

2/ Wolves wages were around £30 million without the bonuses, but Villa's was £70 million plus without promotion bonuses, yet Villa have somehow passed FFP as well - despite losing loads each year they've been in the Championship.

Villa are more of a question mark than Wolves, because they've burnt through the parachute payments and still lost money.

The problem is in terms of FFP is that the published losses are different to those that are taken into account for FFP so for instance anything that the club spends on it's academy is discounted for FFP purposes. Equally there are 3 different sets of rules which may apply to an English club UEFA, Premier League and EFL. The EFL rules are further subdivided by division.

Even as someone who is reasonably comfortable with basic financial reporting I find the whole thing bewildering. If the authorities are going to persist with these type of rules they should publish a basic summary of each club's FFP position on an annual basis which sets out the losses and what allowances they are taking to offset them. Obviously clubs won't want to disclose this information but with enough knowhow an accountant could probably get there from the clubs report and accounts but it would greatly add to the transparency of the process and fans understanding if the authorities did this.

Wolves gambled and won a £55m loss in the Championship is sustainable for one season and one season only. Had they lost they could bridge the gap through player sales and in part a chunk of the loss only happened because they were promoted.

1-0 up for 90 minutes, then Chelsea score in the 91st.

In the past few years we've finished in the top half of the Premiership twice and reached an FA Cup semi-final.
Move along please, nothing to see here.
