West Bromwich Albion FC / Where Does This Squad Stand?
« on: October 30, 2020, 08:22:59 PM »
I haven't been active on the footballing side of the forum for quite some time, for a number of reasons. Most of which is falling out of the love for the game. Secondly is money absolutely destroying English football (from top to bottom).

However I think Albion squad right now leaves a lot to the imagination, it's a sad state of affairs and in my opinion after years of taking forward strides as such, it has culminated in being in the top flight with one of the poorest squads we have had for quite some time.

Where do people feel it compares not just to some of our Premiership squads, but Championship ones too? (Talking post Megson-era)

The demise of the club is harrowing, when we have arguably our biggest name manager (perhaps Robson aside) at the helm. It's almost as if we have Lewis Hamilton in the driving seat and sent him out on the grid in a Little Tykes yellow special.

So the winner is Ben Stokes. Arguably the most undeserving winner in history. Shocking  :-X

I've read over the last few weeks on here how we have x amount of players who can or will score 20+ goals if they're given decent service. So here are the facts

Last time two goalscorers from the same club hit 20+ goals

Rhodes and Gestede (Blackburn) 14/15
Deeney and Ighalo (Watford) 14/15

Ings and Vokes 13/14

Going back to 07/08

So that's three partnerships out of 30 promoted teams who have managed the feat of having two players score 20+ goals in a league season. It's an achievement that isn't made by many and it's frustrating reading just how many people think it's a given that if JRod and Rondon play this year they will do it.
