Trusted source. Circa twenty season tickets are currently suspended with investigations ongoing.

The Football Association has released the following statement in relation to the Black Country derby at The Hawthorns earlier this year.

West Bromwich Albion have been charged with misconduct in relation to crowd control following The FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday 28 January.

It’s alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters conduct themselves in an orderly fashion and don’t behave in an improper, offensive, violent, threatening, abusive, indecent, insulting or provocative way.

It’s also alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters refrain from throwing missiles or other potentially harmful or dangerous objects towards the pitch.

West Bromwich Albion have until Wednesday 20 March to provide their response to this charge.

Great Patel's first thing to worry with apart from the debt which he knew about is this. Great impression, surely Wolves should also be investigated baring in mind I believe most of there fans were given a Police escort to the ground and forced onto coaches and Trams and given Tickets outside the away end. Even if one of ours sold them tickets, how did WMP and Wolves not know there was some Wolves fans in the Halfords Lane

I think we all have different opinions as to what happened that day. Away fans in wrong areas of the ground. Objects being thrown. Over reaction by home supporters. Poor policing and stewardship. Media going over the top. And many other things.  All the ingredients make it difficult where to point the finger of blame. I'd settle for an empty stadium in our next FA Cup home game. It was a very sad day in our clubs history. May I add, I don't think our new owners will think any less of their new purchase.

The day was hyped up way too much beforehand.  Local rivalry is one thing, but the tribal issue got hyped to the max.

If the game hadn't been on TV nobody would have given a toss about what went on  which was nothing in reality apart from one of our own getting hit by a truncheon.

Let's hope we can mitigate the fine down the fine to as little as possible.

I think a stoppage to the game for 20 mins was probably more than entertainment for the cameras. The players concern for their families was also a bit of a give away. The fact it was televised and hyped beyond an Ali fight just provided the blue touch paper and some fans obliged and lit it.

The fact that there happened to be a medical emergency - totally unrelated to the fan issues didn't help matters as that has played to the gallery that it was fan related issues.

Points deduction?   😱
The EFL recently gave Reading a three point deduction for crowd trouble by fans invading the pitch in the League 1 game against Derby which was  suspended and eventually abandoned.

Could they give us a points deduction for an FA Cup game in a competition where points aren't awarded?
Reading got a points deduction because it's a league game and points are awarded depending on result.

At the start of this season the FA introduced an initiative at grass roots level to deduct points for repeated offences by players and coaches towards officials and opponents. Ie repeated acts of aggression and intimidation etc. They had a sort of watch list of 130 clubs or so from the seventh tier down in the men's game and third tier down in the not men's game.

This was specific to grass roots football as there's a particular problem in this regard at that level. I have no idea whether this applies across competitions (league/cup games) but there is no precedent whatsoever for points deductions in the professional game for crowd disturbances across competitions. None.

We all know about points deductions for financial breaches but if we face sanctions they will be financially based, unless the EFL and FA decide to make things up as they go along of course in which case I'd suggest we'd have a very strong defence dating back to 1871 (FA Cup) and 1880 (foundation of the football league).
