Thing is   ;) Creative players often perform in patches.  Stuttering initially until they get their mojo working or the measure of their markers (or their manager gives them some tips at half time).

IMO, defenders in comparison have a smaller skill set  but need to maintain it throughout the game.

Sometimes, it's advisable to persevere with this type of player.

An excellent point. Those with a simpler role (central defenders, holding midfielders, forwards) find consistency much more often your creative, expressive players, and thats the nature of differing roles.

I'd hate to sell Grady now. We've been waiting for the real Slim Grady to stand up for years now, he finally does, and a worrying number of fans are fully accepting of him leaving.

Just being realistic.  He’s now our most saleable asset for a big fee.

Without his 2 runs yesterday in the second half, we may not have been able to break Hull down, and so we'd be discussing a draw. I know its all ifs and buts and maybes, but I don't see many other of our regular starters having that skillset. That said, Sarmiento and Fellows also like to run at players with the ball, so if Diangana were to be sold, you'd hope one or other of them could step up, always bearing in mind that Sarmiento is not our player.

Grady is playing with a bit of confidence at the moment and as such is looking like the player we hoped he would be. Unfortunately this also makes him our most saleable player. Add into the fact that while we have been waiting for this moment his contract has run down so he only has 18 months left. If there is an offer on the table in January we pretty much have to take it regardless of what is happening on the pitch. We can't afford to take the risk of injury or a downturn in form.

Are there players I'd rather sell? Yes, but it is not a question of what I would do or even what Corberan would prefer but what other clubs might be keen to do in January. I am bracing myself for him to be sold probably to a direct rival but needs must.

Suppose thats not why you're a footballer manager?
How would you know if I am or not?

Good, last thing we need is an injury to a forward/creative player.

Disagree entirely. CC might be too good for us but I'm so glad we've got him. He has almost everyone firing on all possible cylinders which is partly why Grady is up there again.

Probably entirely unrealistic but we ideally need to keep this team (including the boss) in place for when we are sold.

I hate comments like too good for us. We're THE Albion.

He's not too good for us. He's not consistent enough for that.

Always a risk with internationals. That's why players from the top clubs are often supposed to be injured before international duty, only to make miraculous recoveries in time for their club's next fixture. However, you can't deny players like Grady their chance of international football.

Looked tired today imo.
Long flights and internationals will do that to him, as well as the rumoured injury.

Great effort from him to keep up with play for that goal.

When he is in a bad period that would have hit the post and not go in.

Keep it up Grady.

Yea I agree I thought he was largely anonymous today but still showed that touch of class he has with that finish
I also thought Phillips wasn’t at his best regarding crosses and creativity but they both worked hard off the ball
You do get that with wide players where some games they create little but both kept at it and worked hard off the ball

The  second goal with the front line charging up the pitch looked like old times and the ' Charge of the Light Brigade'  inspiring stuff of dreams.
