This relegation scrap is so interesting  :D

On Friday I thought "Villa are safe. They have easy fixtures and a small cushion". They then lost to Man Utd, as you'd expect - and their goal difference is too good to go against them.

But - I didn't see Wigan winning tonight, who are on their tales with momentum. Not to forget the likes of QPR and Bolton will gain points.

My only hope is that Villa don't win anymore games...which I think they will. I just think they're closer to the bottom than I originally realised. If only they hadn't have scored vs Fulham (1-0) in the last minute :(

Maybe this is an omen - but this time last season McLeish was in a slightly better position with Blues, and still went down.

I think the key game is Sunderland on Saturday lose that and they  are really are on the slide. ln truth they probably only need one more win but the longer they go without it the more the pressure mounts.

I agree if they beat sunderland there out of it but if they lose they could slide at the wrong time, villa are a poor team and i can see sunderland winning and then bolton need to be beat them, bolton or blackburn need to pick up points if vile are going down, im still dreaming though.

I'm desperatly trying to find a way to get them relegated!!

Wigan are playing well, so we'll assume they'll get one more win to get above them.

Bolton need to beat villa, then win one more to get above them.

That then leaves either QPR or Blackburn to pull a couple of results out.

Much like Blues last season they look reasonably safe with a game in hand, we all know what happened there  :D

I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the season with the hope that these arrogant tossers do go down.

I think QPR are in more danger than the Villa, seems to be a lack of spirit judging by Saturday.

Can't see 3 teams below them getting above them plus their run in Sunderland,Bolton, ourselves,Spuds and Norwich probably isn't the worst they could have at this time of the season..................Sadly ;)

They have to nosedive to get relegated, including losing to Bolton on Tuesday, so Bolton aren't the ones to worry about. Either QPR or Blackburn must win some games now, and both have Spurs and Chelsea left to play. It's a long shot, but it's still possible.

Edit: It's not especially realistic to hope for Blackburn to take three points at White Hart Lane or Stamford Bridge, which must happen in order for Blackburn to drown the Seals, so what we need is a very fast QPR resurgence. They really must get three points from Spurs on Saturday. Bookmakers are giving 12/1 for Vile to go down.

Taken from the E & S Transfer Watch.

Heerenveen striker Bas Dost will not be moving to Aston Villa after his agent revealed the player wants to go to a ‘top club’.

To be honest, Bas Dost just looks like another Samaras (He also scored a shedload of goals in season for them) to me.  Heerenveen have overachieved massively this season as have my Team, Feyenoord, and last season, ADO Den Haag.  There was also a Brazilian dude that was a hero for Heerenveen.  He joined Boro for about £14 million and did squat!  Can't for the life of me remember his name though.  It wasn't Hamilton Ricard. Or was it?  ::)

Alfonso Alves was the bloke that signed for Boro.

Sunderlands not the crunch game, Bolton on Tuesday is, if we pick up 5 points from 3 games (dreaming here) then that would see us safe.
I think Albrighton and Warnock were rested rather than knocks, we'd conceeded defeat before Man Utd. According to a press officer at VP, Eck set out the team to lose 2 0 against Ure on Sunday. Take away Ashley being Ashley he was only 1 goal off :(

I must admit the crying over Youngs dive has amused me, where was the outrage when he was doing it in the library?

The way the teams been set out for certain games its been damaged limitation, draw or to defend a one goal lead. We've only set out to kill teams off once or twice this season, and when we have, we've been good. If we set out like that every week there wouldn be problems with McLeish, well, some trolls would still act the same but on the whole it'd be alright
