Stefan Johansen (on loan from Fulham)
« on: January 31, 2019, 11:32:36 PM »
Confirmed by Fulham, and eventually us.

http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2019/january/31/stefan-johansen-joins-west-bromwich-albion-on-loan

"Johansen's West Brom Loan

The Club can confirm that Stefan Johansen has joined West Bromwich Albion on loan for the remainder of the season.

Johansen – who brought up a century of Fulham appearances earlier in the campaign – joins a Baggies side currently sitting fourth in the Championship table.

Everyone at Fulham would like to wish Stefan the very best of luck for the remainder of the season, as he targets a second successive promotion to the Premier League."

Baggies recruit Johansen
"Stefan Johansen has this evening joined Albion from Fulham for the remainder of the campaign.

The Norway international midfielder, 28, has 46 caps and five goals for his country and has made 12 Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites this term.

He played a prominent role in Fulham’s return to the Premier League last season, making 48 Sky Bet Championship appearances, including all three play-off fixtures.

Johansen has not played in this season’s Emirates FA Cup and is eligible to play for the Baggies.

“I’m delighted we have been able to bring Stefan into the group,” said Head Coach Darren Moore.

“He has got fantastic experience and as a player, a wonderful range of passing, good leadership qualities and a good scoring record. He will add to our goal capabilities and will be a quality addition to our squad.”

Should be the attack minded midfielder we need - OS says he's not cup tied either.

Not that I've heard, and rightly so, strictly a signing to get us out of this division.  Very much his level.

Fulham fans didn't want him to go. Got some good reviews from them.

Technically not needed as his contract runs out at Fulham in June 2019 when he becomes a free agent.  Any forward deal would be with him only, rather than with Fulham.  Puts us in a great position to sign him permanently if we go up.

Fulham have an option in their favour. Where his future lies depends on where both ourselves and Fulham end up next year. For now a welcome addition gives us some different options and means we don't have to play Phillips in midfield but could use him further forward although we now have Murphy and Montero competing for the one wide attacker slot on the left.

Is that definitely correct?  In most player contracts the option to extend has to be exercised by the club prior to 31st December.  If it isn’t, then the player is free to sign a pre-contract with another club on 1st January.  Did Fulham exercise their option?

I think it is as we are doing the same with Rondon.

Im hoping he is the midfielder we are lacking.

Looks strong in the tackle, mobile, can grab a few goals and pass it a bit.....the more i hear of him the more i like the sound of this signing

Player with a lot of fine attributes to his game allied to a bit of needle; chuffed.

I think the fact he is captain of his national team that he will bring some leadership which will be vital on the run in

Think this will be a really important signing. Experienced but still a good age, a leader and is the kind of box to box CM who can score goals that we are lacking.

Was sublime for Fulham end of last season, surprised they've let him go.

if we go up I think he will be here longer than 6 months...

I have to say i know little of him, but I like what i hear, especially the fact that he has been there and done it, then been cast aside this should make him REALLY hungry.
