Slightly confused with this thread, is it the 'best manager outside the premier league'? or is it the 'best manager outside the premier league who members on here would like to see replace Alan Pardew'? as many seem to be alluding to, which is apparently against forum rules. Just asking!

I took it to mean best managers in the Championship or lower profile leagues. Hence no one saying the Barca boss or any top international managers

Heres my suggestion of a great up & coming coach from outside the premier league that would be perfect for say, a struggling club near the bottom who were looking for a new head coach, in the event that the job was vacant

Heres my suggestion of a great up & coming coach from outside the premier league that would be perfect for say, a struggling club near the bottom who were looking for a new head coach, in the event that the job was vacant 

Julian Nagelsmann, young guy doing a great job at Hoffenheim.

Lovely symmetrical league record this season... Won 8, drawn 8, lost 8, scored 38, conceded 38 and 9th in the league out of 18!

I still maintain that Carvalhal will fail at Swansea 

I didn't expect him to get such a bounce at Swansea tbh. His last year & a half at Hillsborough was a total bore.

Still, the issues were bigger than the manager - more his agent (doyen sports) who seem to have a large say. Carvalhal getting rid of the medical team and then appointing his mates and losing his whole first team to injury never helped

As for McInnes - I can't see the appeal. Beyond his connection to us

Julian Nagelsmann has certainly got youth on his side. He'd actually be younger than half the first team squad!  I doubt we would have much chance of getting him as he is widely tipped as a future Bayern manager. Him or the Eintracht Frankfurt manager Nicko Kovac.

On the other hand Martin Schmidt recently resigned as manager of Wolfsburg, for some unknown reason, with the club trying hard to keep him! Would be an unusual case of employing someone who hadn't already been sacked!

Please remember that it is against forum rules to suggest replacements for current managers. Discuss managers you think are good, as the thread title suggests. Just don't suggest them for the managers job or talk about their availability as this will be construed as a "suggestion for the job".

Just asking because it applies to our club and it is a huge topic, it's pretty much the only thing fans are discussing at the moment. And it's hard to discuss AP without other names being mentioned as it's all over the media.

Personally for me if posters are discussing the merits of managers that the media are suggesting then they are still discussing Pardew's replacement so the short answer is No.

First and foremost, I could not stand this bloke as a player, but "as a player" is irrelevant.

Is there a case for this chap being the best outside the prem?

Kevin Nolan, has taken Notts County from a relegation cert to 3rd place in less than a season, he has mixed "waning stars' with youth and got them playing decent footy with commitment. I know its a BIG step up compared to us, but we will likely start next season at the same position as 23 other clubs, so in reality the step from top of Div4 to a level field at start Div2 isn't SOO massive. So I can foresee one of competitors taking a chance on him.

Nolan, knows the league, he has good contacts, he is young, hungry and is known as a mentor to young players, I remember that Newcastle made him Andy Carrolls minder, sharing his home et al, when the big 'un was going off the rails).

Will we be competing with a Nolan side in the near future?

My missus and her family are County fans.

They reckon that if they don't get promoted Nolan could get poached - there might be something in his contract, I can't remember.

If they do get promoted, that will be a big test, as their older players may not cope as well.

That's a good question. Against Swansea in the cup it looked a bit direct to me from what I saw....of course it could have been deliberate tactics for that tie.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I think like Adder says, it is quite direct, but not hoofball.

There are some rumours on Magpies boards that he has bottled it this season. That he's frozen out some players and has others who are his 'favourites'. He's doing well, but he's on his first step of a long journey.

I'd love to see how that squad coped with League 1 if they went up, because the likes of Stead, Ameobi and Hunt aren't getting any younger.
