I often wonder which word the swear filter keeps converting to 'wetting', any clues please  ;D .
seems to be any word that starts with "pi" and ends in "ing".

Back in training from todays pictures on the OS.

Looks happy and well. Hopefully see him back very soon now.

The return of both Phillips and Maja could play a massive role for the season's end and should we get to the play offs.

You're citing playoff kickoff times as prospective reasons for me to be unhappy when I'm having a perfectly justifiable moan about all the final games being brought forward on a Saturday. Now a regular Saturday league fixture and a two legged playoff aren't exactly the same kettle of fish are they  ;D ?
I  was basing it on the numerous posts you've made bemoaning changed kick off times.

It doesn't really matter whether it's the norm for recent seasons (which it is). What matters is that early kickoffs are a pain in the bajangas for many supporters. All kicking off at the same time is fine. So why not make it 3pm? Probably because it would impact Sky's viewing figures for Prem fixtures on the same day.

You're going to be unhappy with the play off games then : 1st leg Sunday 12th at 12.30, 2nd leg Thursday 16th 8pm....that's assuming we make it to the play offs.

Sincerely hope a couple of home kits from the 1880s don't make a comeback as my heart could never grow fond  ;) .

would that he the claret and blue jobbie?

It's on the WBA OS that all the final day Champo games have been brought forward to a 1230pm kick off but isn't that the norm these days for final day?

That's what I thought, pretty sure Swansea last season and the Barnsley game the season before both kicked off at 12.30.

Yes, but that's well over 50 years the yellow and green has been with us, admittedly with a few gaps. As I said, it's been with us for so long, it's become part of our heritage, so I can see no point in abandoning it now just for the sake of change.

Nobody mentioned abandoning it, just not having it for a while since we've had it most seasons for the last 5 or 6 years (either as away or 3rd choice).

We've actually only had a green and yellow striped kit (either away or 3rd choice) for 22 seasons.

I remember how positively it was greeted on it's return in 2018/19 after 12 years. A true case of absence making the heart grow fonder.

I'm a traditionalist
I think our away strip should always be green and yellow
Though I know I'm in a minority
Fair enough. I quite like it myself just not every year.
Is it really traditional though, since it's only been around on and off for about 50 of our 146 year history?

Because it's become part of our heritage now. We've had navy blue and white for even longer - you could get an even bigger breath of fresh air by changing that  :o
Blue and white stripes is the clubs identity though. Yellow and green stripes is a 1970's invention.

If it is Macron I hope they bring back green and yellow stripes for the away strip
Why? We've had green and yellow stripes for most of the last 5 or 6 seasons. This seasons away kits have been a breath of fresh air in that respect.

Wallace was awful against Millwall last season, he pretty much hid in both games.

I'm sure he started on the bench in the 0-0 in September which was a dreary game. They missed a penalty (or rather Palmer saved it) and I think Mowatt and Diangana (?) hit the woodwork.

Palmer

Furlong
Kipre
Bartley
Townsend

Yokuslu
Mowatt

Fellows
Weimann
Johnston

BTA

Subs
Griffiths, Pieters, Ajayi, Chalobah, M'Vila, Wallace, Swift, Phillips, Malcolm

Any comparison with Karlan Grant is comparing chalk and cheese 🧀 . I hope we never have to see KG in an Albion shirt again .

It's not when you are comparing buying players that have shown ability over a short period of time before we buy them for inflated fees..and then realise they are actually not as good as thought.
Which was definitely the case with Grant and could be the case with Johnston. The idea of a longer loan with a fixed price but no obligation is a good idea.

« on: March 18, 2024, 07:57:09 AM »
Points deduction?   😱
The EFL recently gave Reading a three point deduction for crowd trouble by fans invading the pitch in the League 1 game against Derby which was  suspended and eventually abandoned.

Could they give us a points deduction for an FA Cup game in a competition where points aren't awarded?
Reading got a points deduction because it's a league game and points are awarded depending on result.

Another good 3 points in a game where we never really got going but ultimately didn't have to.
Furlong and Townsend both put in really good performances but Johnston was MoM for me.
As someone has already said; we scored at really good times. Fellows strike was well taken and great assist by Townsend for the second with Wallace taking a great position for the tap in.
Agree that TGH could have been sent off....maybe should have been sent off.
Anyone know what was said to Palmer when he was setting up to take the free kick at the end? Furlong was annoyed by it too.

Agree with all 3 points in the highlighted parea. With regard to his kicking, although I'm not denying that what you say happens from time to time, I really hadn't noticed it being quite as bad as you say, but I'm not too bothered really. Mostly what I'm concerned with in a goalie is keeping the ball out of our net and he does that pretty well. Of course he can improve though and I'm sure he will with experience and some decent coaching.
Just as an aside, I'm pretty sure I never used the phrase "wetting it to feet". What does that even mean?  ;D

it's an error with the swearing filter.

I've been checking online but can't find anything definite apart from the date for the Final (Sunday 26th May).
I assume the first legs will be the weekend after the season finishes probably around the 11th or 12th and the second legs the week after probably around 15th?

If he never works again, he shouldn't be skint, should he?
That said he has Stoke written all over him!

Maybe they'll go for the Val/Pulis dream team route?

Im frightened of snakes, why would i want to face a snske to get rid of my phobis?
I think its a very good idea to be aware and afraid dont you?
I mean if i see a snake i wont ignore it will i?

Phobias by definition are irrational fears, so by facing snakes you might then realise that your phobia is irrational. You live in a country which has only 1 native venomous snake species.
The likelihood of you encountering, never mind  being bitten by, an Adder is pretty remote.

To bring things back on track:

Hopefully TGH won't come back to bite us.

No rush bringing him back into the team ,12 goals in 5 games and unbeaten since he was injured ,I know Wallace struggled sometimes but his clever movement off the ball created a few goals which I doubt assante would have made ,stick to the same attacking players for me

I'd expect he will play some part on Saturday, mainly because Weimann can't.

Ah but ...

"Naming your fear is the first step in overcoming it. Science backs this up.

A UCLA study found that naming your emotional experience makes you more rational."

not if you name it Barbara.

I'm hoping for a decent performance akin to the 2nd half at Huddersfield. 3 points would do us nicely and make that play off place a little more secure.
We've won 6 of the last 10 league meetings with them.

I've long been interested in the careers of our ex-academy players who've actually achieved something in championship or Prem.  So I've watched Field and TGH.

I'm not impressed by TGH's performances at Bristol City,  He seems mainly to be midfield stodge and his passes now are mainly short and square to better players like Joe Williams.  In 39 games he has 1 goal and 4 assists.  Having said all that, by the law of Sod, I'm expecting for him to have a stormer against us this weekend.

He seemed to start his career at Bristol well but has been a bit meh recently...just like the rest of the team really. I certainly wasn't that bothered when we let him go. He had some good games for us but also a few poor games mostly he was average.

if we make the playoffs which is looking likely how man of you will be hiding behind the sofa during those two games to get us to Wembley. 18 points i make it from the games left. its going to be nervy. we can do Southampton over two games. Ipswich v WBA Final and all the armchair supporters should be able to get a ticket

Not me, I'll be there....even if it means a midweek slog down to either Soton or Ipswich.

We haven't been able to get a single point from Soton in 2 games so far this season.
