West Bromwich Albion FC / Trev the Shed
« on: March 25, 2024, 01:13:51 PM »
I live in St. Anne's, just outside of Blackpool, and while I was in a pub last night I got talking to an elderly but cheerful chap who clearly has a Black Country accent. In not time at all I found out he was a lifelong Baggie . He was at the 54 Cup Final (as were my dad's parents - my nan was secretary of the supporter's club at that time) but he topped the conversation off with the fact that his cousin was Trev the Shed.

Just surreal to have that chat 120 miles away from the hallowed ground! Highly enjoyable chat...

West Bromwich Albion FC / Last match against PNE

Well that's almost certainly scuppered my chances of making that match now they've changed the kick off time.

I'm gigging the night before (ironically just outside Preston).

Gutted, I'd really been looking forward to that one.

Is it me or does online 'journalism' seem to be increasingly written by children with little understanding of, well, writing...?

I must stop clicking. I will write this out for myself 200 times and hand it in tomorrow.

We've never had the most communicative Club and Board but does anyone else find the official site's radio silence is getting more and more irritating?

Our PR and communications department (I'm foolishly assuming there is one) is utter pants.

West Bromwich Albion FC / League One
« on: October 22, 2022, 05:26:56 PM »
The way we have shaped up over the last six years (and the last two in particular) it's clear to everyone we are in a rapid downward spiral. End of last season and all of this one I have been convinced that the only way we will exit this league is by dropping a division.

The trouble is the rot is so bad - and the utterly clueless ownership - that I can see us dropping still further.

Does anyone on here feel that a creative and inspiring manager can turn this around? And by that I mean just keep us 'up'. I can't wait for someone new to get cracking but I've had all of the hope beaten out of me by all this. Worst we've been for two decades, as many of us have said.

I feel like I should join AA - Albion Anonymous.

Wonder if Mark's sweating on his next Albion prediction?

Wonder how many games before he does?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Anyone worried about our future?
« on: March 23, 2021, 07:24:33 PM »
I'm not talking about bouncing back down into the Championship. I'm not overly worried that we will do a Sunderland and drop through to the next division - though I'm certainly far from confident.

What worries me so much is the real problem.
It's not our exciting team of 2019 losing it for no clear reason and in the end being lucky to go up.
It's not Bilic's unbalanced purchases of the 2020 pre-season window (I maintain the purse strings were massively hampered but do agree he could have shaped us a little differently).
It's not the crazy appointment of Allardyce - and by that I mean square peg manager, round hole squad.

We all know that we are currently rotten at the very core. Our owners seem to have no concept of how to make their 'investment' profitable again and we seem to have nobody with the faintest footballing mind on our board. Finally, while I recognise why Slaven was sacked, we seemed to do it without any grace whatsoever; there was a time that we conducted ourselves with some dignity and style.

I know I'm stating the bleeding obvious here. But I'm genuinely very worried about our future as a club.

West Bromwich Albion FC / So what happens if we still get relegated?
« on: December 16, 2020, 06:48:10 PM »
This grand plan of getting Safety Sam in to protect Lai's investment. What happens then if we still get relegated?

We will haemorrhage the few decent players we have, all with a lessened value because of the style of football we are going to be playing now. Our value will be even less than last season.

What's our beloved chairman's next step? Sell the land??

I apologise for sounding melodramatic but this desperate ploy to stay in the greed league with, YET AGAIN, no long term plan, is worrying me rather more than the football itself.

Did anyone see this last night or since on iPlayer?

William did an excellent job connecting with the players and through them, us. He tackled (no pun intended) the subject well and it was great to see Albion featured - it was a few months back that he visited the Hawthorns if I recall correctly. Fascinating insight into Joe Hart's situation and the PNE fan who said that their fans forum was a great help to him. I think that is true of this forum, and many sources of footie social media I guess.

When they were putting the programme together I'm sure they weren't anticipating Covid 19 putting a spanner in the works and it was great to see them touch on that too.

I hope you are all getting through this crazy time.

Gotta say BB74, think RDM would work wonders with this squad. :)

Thought I might as well get this going now, what with due diligence and everything.
